CNN reports Bush leads Kerry, NO bounce
WOLF: what do these numbers say about the so-called bounce out of this democratic convention?

SCHNEIDER: no bounce and that's striking. they show there might have been a very brief bounce, not a bounce but a blip i'd call it among people interviewed on friday after the convention kerry was ahead by five points. we continued to interview on saturday and those people -- bush moved into a slight lead of two points.
----

WTF "We continued to interview on Saturday"...until they got the results they wanted? CNN = 100% Bush tool, they have crossed the river.

1. Bill, what does your shameless shilling for Repubs say about your
journalistic ethics or lack thereof?

SCHNEIDER: It shows that I'm a total right wing media whore and that's striking.

WOLF: Yes Bill, we have to break for a terror commercial, but we will revisit this issue for the next 72 hours, I'm sure.

8. Blitzer was orgiastic and obsessive on this...
He made a point of saying that the Newsweek poll was done before the end of the convention and flat out said it was NOT accurate.

On the other hand, however, he said the CNN/Gallup poll was done AFTER (and says "I repeat, AFTER") the DNC and shows absolutely no bump whatsoever... implying that the Newsweek poll was inaccurate, whereas theirs was completely accurate and authentic.

Blitzer has done more shilling today than I have EVER seen from that bag of hot air.

11. Newsweek 54-41
The only day that newsweek polled after the convention was Friday when Kerry led 54-41.

13. The full bounce is not realized until the weekend after the convention
that is an age old axiom. Any reporting is either naively or maliciously misleading. It takes a week for the marginally informed voters to digest everything from the previous week including talking to other people that watched the convention. Conventional analysis has always measured the bounce a week to 10 days after the convention closes on Thursday night.

15. That's exactly why they're rolling this out today...
Being "professional journalists" (and boy do I use that term loosely), they know full well they shouldn't even poll until a week out. But no, not the whores that they are... they want to give the false impression that there was no bump. Consequently, when they DO poll next week, they will have effectively, adversely influenced what the results of THAT poll will be. Oh GOD how I hate these people!

17. Corporate News Network
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 02:04 PM by GaryL
What tends to skew results is the initial assumptions underlying sampling. I saw a Gallup poll once where they showed a spread of 45,37,18 as pug, dem, and indie. They "assume" more people are pugs. Without knowing what the full set of underlying assumptions are, these results are crap. In addition, a +/- MOE is horrible. That's a potential 8 POINT SPREAD. These guys are shameless.

19. Here's what gets me
Kerry is ahead 3 among registered voters, but Bush is ahead 4 among likely voters? A 7-point swing is ridiculous. They're obviously underrepresenting Dems in the LV category. This is bullshit.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/07/25/states.poll/i...

But because the results are all within each poll's margin of error, the candidates are essentially even. The three polls were conducted between July 19 and Thursday.

Interesting they've been pumping this thing all day, and nothing on the website.

Likely, the new poll is through this past Thursday.

22. lest for we forget
These people are all in the Bush camp. We sometimes forget because they lighten up from time to time. But remember they can turn it on full blast at anytime.

Remember how they acted during the lead-up to the iraq war? They are still the same media. Any time they want, they can just go into that "this is sooooooooo serious" mode. When they are in that mode, the idea is that there's no time for any playing around right now. John Kerry? WHO??? This is too serious to be bothering with John Kerry right now.

They want us to pay homage and to be thankful we have a serious leader, struggling, doing what he can, to prevail over (or at the least to punish) evil-doers everywhere. There's no time for second-guessing our great leader at a time like this is what they mean.

They can go into this mode at any time now. They just did today, for example. Everything stopped in time. John Kerry's campaign, Bush's problems, all put on hold, any time they want. Hmmm, what does that remind you of? Who's terrorizing whom is what I would like to know.
