My greatest fear is that there IS an attack, imminent, and that our government will let it happen in order to allow
Patriot II/reelection/martial law.

What if Bushco decides that this is good for their electoral numbers? Then they have the best of both worlds--announcing it loudly, looking like they are doing something, and then the terrible aftermath where they can claim that they tried, but it was unavoidable.

What if they decide to allow it?

I am afraid--I posted this as a reply in another thread, but I will share it here, too:

"In August of 2001 I would obsessively take a pair of tickets I had out of a desk drawer and I kept feeling a deep sense of foreboding as I looked at them. The tickets were for the first row of the upper tier, and I kept having visions of DH and I falling, falling, through the air. I kept saying "we will have to be careful that day." (I had sat in these seats before with no problem.)

The tickets were for September 11th, Yankee Stadium, Yanks against the ChiSox.

LAST WEEK, I looked at my husband and I told him that I had the same feeling. I keep repeating two words to myself, "Newark" and "Tuesday". I hope I'm full of crap."

I hope I am wrong, but I can't shake the feeling that something very bad will happen. I'm still planning on going to NYC, though....

hate us and how much they love themselves. Who is they - whether terrorists or our own government, the question is valid.

Has anyone discussed in detail and with any kind of insights whether the terrorists would need to do something to us right now before the election? If you could imagine yourself as a terrorist, wouldn't there be something in you that would want to seek peace for your own people? No one can fight forever. There have to be events that would lead to cease fires, negotiations, solutions, compromises. If there was ever a time to wait it would be now - to see if the Bush Cabal is voted out allowing for a window of opportunity.

Bin Laden got one of the things he wanted - a pull out of military bases in Saudi Arabia. If he speaks for Moslems there are still some serious issues - the destruction of Palestime and the removabl of Palestinians, the occupation of two Moslem countries.

If there is any rational to the terrorists and any hope of getting some of the things they want - why not wait?

But if they want to take down the entire country economically, they might have a chance - because the Bush Cabal has certainly aided and abetted the effort. We are weak.
