We're better off if Kerry doesn't get a "bounce" from the covention
All this bounce/no bounce talk is more media horseshit. I think it's better if Kerry stays neck and neck with Shrub until the election, because if he gets too far out ahead of Bush, our side could get over confident and a lot of people might not bother to go out to vote on November 2nd.

Your thoughts?

2. Regardlless of what the polls say,
the democrats must go into election day acting as if they are 5 points behind.

3. That's my thinking
besides...it only encourages those that might vote for Nader or Cobb if they think Kerry's lead is safe.

4. This is going to be a VERY close election
and I have a feeling that from now until November it'll be Kerry pulling a bit in front of Bush, then Bush taking a slight lead, and repeat. I hope and pray Kerry will win, but if he does, he won't win by much.

Even if Kerry had a 20 point lead -- which he'll never get -- I won't feel safe. I don't trust Shrub and his administration whatsoever.

5. I disagree. I wish we were up 15-20 (not going to happen though).
Because 10% can become 15% can become 25% can become game over a month before the election.

See my reasoning here.

8. I remember that Dukakis has a 17 point lead coming out of the Convention
and the rest is history.

11. Dukakis was not running against a weak incumbent with a weak record.
And Susan Estrich was (and still apparently is) a complete nimrod.

6. The 'media' is so out of touch.
They apparently have no idea what is happening among the people of this country until about 3 months after it happens.

10. I think you hit it on the head
The media has become so arrogant, elite and out of touch, that they believe their own bullshit. Like when they decided that Al Sharpton's speech would be a turn-off to viewers? Who are they to tell any of us how we're supposed to feel? Fuck 'em and the horse they road in on.

Besides, I loved Rev. Al's speech.

9. The media made sure there wouldn't be much of a bounce.
The convention gets only three hours of broadcast coverage, generally accompanied by snarky, pro-Bush commentary. Cable news covered more of it, but their commentary was even snarkier and more pro-Bush, and only a relatively small number of people watched it, free of bullshit, on C-SPAN. The result was intevitable: since just about everybody who watched any of the convention were subjected to the White House-controlled media's negative coverage, the polls reflected that fact. The fact that Kerry didn't go down on the polls is a favorable result, considering how terrible and biased the coverage was.
