What's the headline story after first night of Repub Convention ?

The Repub Convention ran smoothly last night. There were many less demonstrators than were expected. The delegates cheered loudly as the speakers lambasted John Kerry and former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary. Several of the speakers mocked the "trial lawyer", John Edwards, Kerry's VP candidate.

There was a party atmosphere before the speakers ever began. It only got louder as the night progressed. Initial polls show that Mr Bush has gained ground on Mr Kerry already. There was one unfortunate incident at one of hte "free speech" zones. One of the protestors collapsed from the heat and died before they could her to the hospital.
