A couple of things concerning the $87B talking points.
To begin with, another thread mentions a disputed $20B allocated in the $87B bill. As I remember that $20B, it was actually in line to be given to Iraq for reconstruction, but what was at issue, and what Bush threatened to veto the bill over, was whether or not that $20B given to Iraq was to be a loan or a gift. If it was deemed to be a loan, IIRC, Bush was going to veto the bill (because that would mean Iraq would have to charge more for their oil to Bush's oil buddies, meaning less profits for them).

That's a pretty nasty talking point for us right there, in my opinion.

The other thing we can counter Bush with is how he has cut veteran's benefits and even COMBAT PAY for our soldiers in Iraq, not to mention the lack of armor, water and ammunition due to the Bush administration MISadministration.

And, yes, mention Halliburton as often as possible.

Sorry I'm not providing any links, but to be honest with ya I'm just too lazy and busy to be looking this up right now. :) And I could be wrong. If someone wants to back this up, please do.

1. My question is
for clarification, the bill INCLUDED the cut for vet benefits and combat pay when it came back from the House?

2. Like nothing of that $20 bil actually got spent btw.
The CPA was spending Iraq's money instead because it had no real oversight.
