Poll question: Where would you be MOST concerned about security?
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 05:28 PM by POed_Ex_Repub
With the Terra alerts being up for the umpteenth time I thought it was time to make this poll. Here's a list of the locations the media is telling us we should be most worried about, what do you think?

Edited for Grammer/spelling

1. My money is against DC, it might hit one of them.
A truck bomb in NYC is way more likely, it would kill mostly the riffraff. Those who matter will be tucked away safely.

2. LAX and Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor
1. LAX, for sure. Al Qaeda has a history of going back to targets they missed. (World Trade Center, 1994 and 2001.) They were foiled (by luck, mostly, by a good border guard at Blaine, Washington) at the Millenium.

2. LA/Long Beach harbor: 10% of the containers are opened and inspected. Read that long article in Atlantic Monthly about it a few months ago? World shipping is almost completely unregulated.

And I troop off to work, living a few miles from LA harbor, and fly my family in and out of LAX all the time.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to trust the govamint is DOING something?

4. I would agree
I also think it's the biggest stage... and publicity is what these creeps are seeking.

6. Airports, event venues, etc. Anywhere large numbers of people gather...
Unfortunately, with all this "crying wolf" by Homeland Security, all it's gonna take is for some home-grown nutcase to do something terribly tragic.

These idiots seem determined to create another catastrophe.

7. Other - Many of the above
I would not attend the Olympics on a bet or dare. Airports and chemical plants and nuclear plants would also be high on my list of places to avoid. I personally would not care to work in a building above the 10th floor. I also believe if attacks are gonna happen, they are gonna happen, and we have to live our lives.

On the other hand I get spooky in MacDonald's and Post Offices due to domestic violent attacks, that have taken place in the past. I would also be a bit apprehensive if I was a patient at an abortion clinic, etc.

As the dragging of James Byrd and the beating of Matthew Shephard show being black or gay can also be dangerous. As Laci Peterson and the Utah woman show being pregnant could be a problem.

Here in KY we have some Muslims, I worked for a Syrian surgeon before my son was born managing a hotel he owned. This was prior to 9-11, and I have often wondered if he and his family had problems afterwards.

What I am trying to say is danger and violence in this country can be scarey, but we have to try to rise above our fears.

8. It's all a ploy
a crock of shit to distract attention from the presidential race . Think about it - if you're an Arab terrorist, why take a chance on getting people pissed off, and throwing the election to Shrub? It's not logical.

9. Cleveland, OH
Why? Because I live here. And because our rivers already have a reputation for being easily flammable

10. I chose "other."
I think terrorists will hit someplace that kills a lot of Democrats, such as Democratic Congressional offices, or non-chain restaurants.
