We were Harassed by Republicans at the County Fair
My friend and I spent 5 hours at the
Washington County Democratic Party booth in the Washington County Fairgrounds in Oregon last Friday. (we are both females).

I have never seen so many People coming to buy Kerry bumper stickers and lawn signs in my life. We collected between $400 to $500 by selling them at $2 each in those 5 hours.

Every 20 to 30 minutes, a couple of Republican males came to harass us.
These were NOT kids. I am talking about 50 to 60 year old men, that would come and say something stupid to us.

We were very, very busy, so we didn't pay attention to them, until a couple of them came too close to us, with their Bush-Cheney stickers and put them really close to our face, saying something dumb like "these are
real stickers or the real thing", or something idiotic like that.

So, thinking we may have a hard time walking to our cars alone at 11:00pm, I approached a Hillsboro police officer and told him it may be a good idea for them to walk around our booth every once in a while because these idiots were harassing us. He responded that short of the Republicans bringing an elephant to our booth, he was not going to do anything about it.

Later on, I saw the sheriff, who immediately had someone come and check on us every once in a while.

I saw a lot of people who were ecstatic about Kerry's speech.
There was one kid who came and switched from Republican to Democrat because he said he had heard Kerry and wanted to change parties. He is 21. He told us that he is going to Iraq, and I shook his hand and promised him that I was going to pray for him for his safe return every night.

My theory is that the republicans are running scared and feel like they are losing, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered us.

I have never seen them so desperate. So, cheer up! I think we are going to win in November...

Lupita

2. Thank you for your
time and energy. I do believe that it will pay off in the long run.

We'll never change the minds of the freepers but we can get the apathetic voters off their duffs and to the polls. Trn out is the key.

3. Great report. I'm so proud of you for your efforts...
DO take care; whackos everywhere. My eyes tear up about that kid having to go to Iraq and your response. Bless your heart for telling him that!

It's pretty scary when the "protect and serve" officers won't heed it's communities pleas though :(

Finally, WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO that you did so well in that booth and so many Kerry supporters!! WELL DONE OREGON!!

KEEP HOPE ALIVE :bounce:

5. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and your friend, Lupita!
That was a very engaging story..and I might add typical of the behavior I have come to expect from anyone who thinks bush should be president.

6. I think they would've bothered you twice as much if Bush was popular.
Sounds like the typical aged playground bully that's all too common in the Republican Party. They're chickenshits on average, and won't do much when outnumbered. But when they're in the majority... watch out. They build internment camps.

10. Brainless Bullies ...
Thank you for the praises, we were just doing our job.
There were a lot of people registering to vote too...

I HAVE NEVER been so busy at the fair. This time, two of us were not enough!
We are a swing county and a swing state, but if this is a trend, Kerry is going to win by a landslide!

50-60 year old Republican men. Oh yes, the "adults" are in charge, all right. :eyes: Bush and Cheney's demographic, how telling.

Our county fair is next week....a republican county...I dread to see how that's going to go down. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for your report and your efforts.

9. Keep up the good work Lupita
You and your friend had every right to be there getting your message out. You also did the right thing to let someone know that these creeps were harassing you. You never know when a psycho is going to explode. It's best to ignore them. They'll be even more desperate on Nov. 2nd when they lose.

11. I hope you file a complaint with the police department about
that officer. He may not have been able to help you for other reasons, but what he said was unacceptable.

12. "These are real stickers"?? oooh, burrrnnnn.
Thanks for all your hard work.

These brownshirts are the most anti-American, unpatriotic people in this country, and I hope Kerry's win in Nov. will send them scurring back into their holes.

19. Yes. And then, we need to fill the holes with steel wool and spackle.
(which is what you do with mice, she said, sadly, from a *lot* of recent experience).

13. There are so many Yahoos in the outskirts of Portland Oregon.
I'm out in Sherwood, and I have my Kerry Edwards sticker on my F-150 pickup window. What is interesting is since thursday lawn Kerry signs have gone up in the community. Before the convention it was all Bush signs.

I want a lawn sign. Can you help me out with some info on that?

17. That is a sign of desperation for sure.
They're watching the destruction of their party. Putting everything they had behind chimpy everything would've worked had they been able to hide things. But people are getting the message out there that something's rotten in DC. The rank and file repug that you saw is scared out of his/her wits. I believe that wholeheartedly.
