Imus concentrating on one poll: Gallup.
Why would Imus, who is purportedly a Kerry supporter, accept the results of one poll? The only poll, mind you, who reflects a no bounce poll for Kerry after the Democratic campaign?

The one thing I agree with him is that Maureen Dowd is a out of line writing negative columns on Kerry. I think it's time for all columnists to recognize that it's time to stand together and get Bush out of the White House. We can all take shots and hone Kerry after the election is secure.

1. Wake-up Duers!
Okay, here's a bump for my own post:

I figured out why Imus is acting like Gallup is the only poll in town. The bald guy keeps chirping in, "Thank you, Sharpton. Thank you, Mama T." They're just abusing the poll to try to silence those on the Democratic side that they don't agree with. They're honing Kerry for their own interests

8. The terror alerts AND the negative poll reporting
will have the effect of diffusing the good bounce polls.

I hope you're right, but there isn't anything this Administration does that isn't calculated for the wrong reasons.

19. Why?
What's this lovefest with a person that's been in relative seclusion until 3 weeks ago?

It's really farcical, when you look at it objectively.

3. Thkis whole poll business has
been fishy from start. This is first time they waited so long to t poll.If you look at the same poll among registered voters Kery is ahead. The Media is emphasizing Likely Voters Poll which is skewed Republican because Republicns are better at getting out and voting.

As painful as it may be, accept the fat the Media are on Bush's side.
Even if okne or two are not , they are not willing to lose their job in search of truth. Corporate Media (Corporate Party supports Republicans. Have ykou not noticed the Media doing WH Talking Points>??

Fox News has a Media Watch Program on Saturday evening. They brought out the fact that the Media does not like Kerry. I recall the Media did no like Gore either.

4. Saying that the media does not like Kerry is a pretty amazing
confession. What it says is that the media is admitting that it isn't objective in its reporting. Now they need to name names. Which media talking heads do not like Kerry? And is there a contagion effect taking place where the right-wing is spreading this perception and mamby-pamby media heads like Matthews are just falling in step?

9. Time to do a writing campaign to Imus?
The man is a toad. If he really was in Kerry's camp, he would have given the results of all three polls equal time.

11. I Suspect There Will Be A New Round Of Polls Today
which will include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday......

We will see...

It's important to remember that Gallup had Bush leading Gore 52% - 39% on 11-27-04!!!!!

Their last 00 poll had it 48% - 46% Bush within the MOE....

Did Gallup cook their poll and then change it at the end to avoid a Dewey beats Truman moment?

Hmmmmm

"It's important to remember that Gallup had Bush leading Gore 52% - 39% on 11-27-04!!!!"

===================================================================

Three things:

  1. 11-27-04 hasn't happened yet. Did Gallup conduct this poll using their patented Wayback Machine?
  2. Bush isn't running against Gore in 2004.
  3. The election should be 25 days old by 11-27.

:spank:

10. Jonathan Alter of Newsweek appeared and discounted his own poll...
saying something about its polling stopping on Friday in order to get the magazine out, and Gallup's further polling was probably more accurate. He added that he thought other polls would show both a slight gain or a slight loss for Kerry.

14. How is Gallup "killing us?"
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 07:12 AM by Jawja
The only reason it is "killing us" is because people are going off the deep end because of it. Gallup was way off the mark in 2000.

It really will kill us if we concentrate on that one poll and accept it as gospel. That's what Big Media wants. Big Media is "selling" the public a "very close" election. I don't believe it, not for one minute. Take out Big Media polls and look at the professional pollsters that have credibility and Kerry has a lead.

Let's not get hysterical over what Big Media is doing. Let's keep our eye on the ball, and that is electing Kerry the next President of the United States.

13. And why don't Alter and Frank Rich "stand together" for us now???
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 07:01 AM by DeepModem Mom
Alter discounted the poll from his own publication, Newsweek, this morning -- and Frank Rich, who has written very eloquently of the danger the Bush cabal poses to the country, appears on Imus now, weeks before the election, and gives lukewarm support to Kerry, while trashing Teresa. Damn these panty-waisted liberals! The time has come to put up or shut up. Imus gives liberals spots on his show, getting vicious complaints from viewers and listeners, and then they come on and wimp out.

15. Gallup...
... polls have been skewed towards the right for years. They have zero credibility, they are only useful as a RW talking point.

Frankly, I like the lying ass polls. They keep Dems from getting complacent. :)

18. I had commented here that most people were already decided
and that there would be a minimal bounce - if any. Just because the "media" in order to push their coverage said that this is where people will get to "know" Kerry, doesn't make it so. Most people know where they stand and it has nothing to do with Kerry. It all has to do with hatred of Bush and fundamental ideology. Anybody who thinks this is like elections of the past has not been paying attention or isn't mad enough. I'm pissed - Bush is turning us into a nation of idiots and we need to stop him
