1. Bush altered intelligence reports
Do you have any details at all? Not all of us are up on the latest right wing lie-of-the-day.

6. It's a medium deal.
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 08:24 AM by dsewell
It's on the order of Time magazine darkening O.J.'s mug shot for dramatic effect. You're presenting something as documentary reality when in fact you've altered it in a significant way. Moore and his production crew knew that people would be going through F9/11 shot by shot to scrutinize everything, so they should have known better than to touch up an actual newspaper reproduction for effect.

--Hmm, Junkdrawer's link makes it clear that this is really only a small deal after all. Never mind...

11. Actually, it COULD be pretty misleading...
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 09:19 AM by Atman
The Pantagraph is claiming the story was a LTTE, and merely the opinion of the letter writer. If this is indeed just an LTTE, then Moore really WAS misleading by showing it as a news "headline" from a newspaper.

DISCLAIMER: I haven't seen the movie yet, but otherwise I am a big fan of MM.

5. Does this look like a "Front Page" to you...

http://www.pantagraph.com/flick/flick0723.html

The AP story keeps insisting the film converted the LTTE to a "front page headline". The truth lies somewhere in between. In other words, the AP is engaging in the very behavior it accuses Moore of.

7. They're asking for $1 in damages?
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 08:26 AM by in_cog_ni_to
:eyes: This will be all over CNN, MSBNC and Faux News today, I'm sure. How ridiculous. It looks like they are placating some RW nut job who complained to them about their headline. $1 ???? ONE DOLLAR? Yeah, this is news worthy. Sheesh. The RWers just can't handle the truth. :scared:

The image posted above sure doesn't look like it was even meant to look like the front page to me.

9. No it doesn't
even begin to look like a front page. Talk about a fine toothed comb! Let them whine. They're just threatened by the TRUTH.

10. I "read" The Daily Pantagraph for 20 years...
No kidding. It really is spelled that way. Go figure.

It takes about 10 minutes to read (cover to cover) because 50% is used for ads! Of the remaining 50%, 35% is Sports coverage.

English teachers in the area give extra credit for finding errors in The Daily Paragraph Pantagraph. Points are given out every single day!

Moore enlarged the print of the story and made sure that the source was visible. That's all.

You'll notice that The Pantagraph isn't disputing the fact that they published the story used in the film.

See for yourself how bad the paper is:

13. Lighten up.
It was a joke. Mike tossed in a podunk newspaper in contrast to the big time resources that supported his clamins for a laugh.
