Where are Bush`s medals?
I realize this is old news, but I`m absolutely incensed by it.Where are Bush`s medals? Where was he when those names were stacking up like cord wood for the Vietnam Memorial? Lucky for him that he could use his last name and his Daddy`s connections like a stepladder up and over that wall of death.

What an insult to those who served, what craven insensitivity to show up in a flight suit costume, swaggering, bellowing...as if Bush had a right to even a smidgen of honor. I remember something he said in 2002, something like...`I`ve been to war and I`ve raised twins. If given the choice, I`d rather go to war.` Been to war? He has himself confused with Max Cleland, the hero Coulter says got injured playing with a grenade.

I`m not angry because Bush chose not to serve in Vietnam. I`m angry because he lied about what he did, inventing a shallow mockery of the horrible things my friends endured over there. Many of them died, blown to nothingness. Many returned home as empty as the promises that sent them there. Bush doesn`t belong in that lineup. His soul, teeming with arrogant grandeur, operates as though watching a John Wayne war movie is the same as real sacrifice.

Now the Republicans are busy attacking Kerry`s record. Did you know he was there a mere four months? His injuries weren`t all that serious. He`s a Jane Fonda type. He made up the swift boat story. On and on. Well, let`s see Bush`s medals then. Let`s hear the story about the young Bush who was sitting on a bar stool one night and blinked knowingly toward that revelation shining in the corner. Let`s hear about how he slithered off that bar stool and nearly raced toward the nearest recruitment office...shoulders back, awashed in pride, ready to serve. Let`s hear it, Ed Gillespie. Treat us to a Bush home video, the one where Barbara`s maid is dusting Junior`s medals.

1. RW lie going around that the vets at convention didn't really serve w/him
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 10:14 AM by wishlist
and the whole thing was faked because all of those vets on stage with Kerry never served with him at all. Next thing they'll be alleging that Kerry's whole Vietnam service record was forged and he never went to Vietnam at all!

Other big lie RW is spreading is that babyBush is a certified flyer with a pilot's license, whereas Kerry is lying about being a pilot. Of course, the opposite is true- Bush never got his pilot's license and Kerry has been occasionally flying solo even up until recently to some campaign events. And of course our wonderful media never bothers to set the record straight about the bogus internet crap and email lies being spread against Kerry.

I feel your anger
A relative sent me yet another right wing email, and my response was basically what you just said. However, since I like my relative, I was a lot more subdued. I did end by saying that my medal-winning husband hates cowards. Thinking this over, I think I should have said cowards that pretend to be heroes.

(I don't think a person who didn't go to Vietnam is a coward, but I do think that a person who didn't go to Vietnam and pretended that he was in danger is a coward.)

2. A good personalized yard sign- "WHERE ARE BUSH'S MEDALS?"
Another good yard sign slogan is "Dump the Drunk" or maybe "Like Father Like Son, One Term and He's Done."

3. Better yet - where are Bush's records?
The ones that were "destroyed" were "found" again, and yet show nothing new, proving nothing.

4. I was thinking more alond the line of WHO got bush*s medals?
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 11:25 AM by FoeOfBush
As in, since bush* ducked out not only of Vietnam, but couldn't even be bothered with his cushy TANG spot, who got the medals he *surely* would have won had he had John Kerry's character? Was it your brother? Or son? Or husband? Did they return alive with bush*s medals? Or maybe the only "medal" they got was the shrapnel type metal of a landmine? Did your son get bush*s metals, while bush* patrolled the southern US earning first Lieutenant without even attending Officer Training School? Did your husband get bush*s metals while he was meddling with girls during his "respite from duty in Texas" by helping on a campaign in Alabama? Was it your brother's mettle that "earned" bush*s metals?

Perhaps the truth is that Kerry's mettle was what gave him the opportunity to take bush*s metals that resulted in the earning of bush*s medals. Someone served in bush*s place, who has bush*s medals? And why isn't it bush* that has them?

5. Who got Bush's Purple Heart?
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 11:33 AM by LuminousX
I like it.

Actually, doesn't the National Guard give out medals of merit?

http://www.agd.state.tx.us/stateguard/air/state_awards.asp

Does Dubya have any of these medals? Certainly, even if he wasn't in combat, there are a few he could have been eligible for.

on edit: added link to medals

10. I mean, Bush says he's been to war...
Don't you remember his quote that went something like, "I've been to war and I've raised twins, given the choice, I'd rather go to war."
