Bush is irrelevant - the story has become the Media Complicity
look Bush is an old dog with no new tricks. Every move is predictable.

The thing Bush is correct on is we HAVE turned the corner. That corner is that the story is no longer about Bush, but about hsi complicit Media.

The outstanding performance of all of the Dems at the convention was tantamount to bashing the Corporatists in the head with a shovel. They are still reeling from the attack and are spinning in all directions at once.

We need to keep pressure on the lies, fabrication and distortions of the media. That IS the story now. They are so rushed at it that they have gotten sloppy.

- moments after Kerry speech, every tired accusation and degrading "catch phrase" was repeated for 1/2 hour

- CNN produced a one hour "hit piece" for the purpose of degrading Kerry without addressing any actual content of the Democrat message.
specifically :
- ballons not falling
- Hamster CPR - did she lie?
- Kerry "using his family" for politics
- "Red Meat" montage

- CNN cut up the segments of the hit piece and seeded them for days into Headline News.

- Tweety - pretending to be a dem, but criticizing dems for not being "tough enough".

We need to keep the Buzz focused on the fake bias of the media. America is being deceived, wholesale.

1. it's what they will NOT cover as well.... they are whores...we have no
investigative journalism in this country...otherwise they would have been all over Paul On'Neill's book and others.

They would have asked many hard question regarding 911 and the whitewash of how 911 happened.

We are stuck with the fox watching the hen house.

3. Where's the bounce?
I couldn't believe my ears a few minutes ago. That's the advertisment CNN is running for their interview with Kerry/Edwards this afternoon.

After an interview with Kerry this AM, CNN had a spokeswoman for the far right-wing American Enterprise Institute question everything Kerry had said. There was a spokesman from the more middle of the road Brookings Institute who often said that he agreed with the AEI woman.

We need real left wing think tanks.

5. ... We need real left wing think tanks. We also need...
some real evidence that Kerry has a "war room" up and running.

I really hope there's a room full of experienced media/PR/marketing folks working the phones every day to help set the media agenda.

Not to respond to every little thing the repugs upchuck, but to develop relationships with reporters, transmit the JK company line, help book talking heads, etc.

4. 'Bombard The Headquarters!'
Mail them complaints, both electronically and by the post. Mail complaints to their sponsors, accusing them of funding political bias, and declaring resolve not to purchase their products, and to criticize them to all friends and acquaintances. The revolution that founded this country began as a boycott!

Tip their viewer polls to the proper answers. Show them that the lines they are trying to push are not the popular lines. Let them know they risk reducing their market share by persistence in them.

Do not watch their programs. What portion of their audience consists of liberals and progressives and leftists who are outraged by their lies and distortions? We know they will lie and distort, after all, and so do not gain a great deal by seeing the details. There are far, far better sources avaoilable for information concerning current events, after all.

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

15. KCTV5 in Kansas City sure was nasty in last night's "special"
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 04:12 PM by MODemocrat
Their beautiful news anchor seemed so excited to tell us that John Kerry had been chastised (not exactly the word she used) by his own party, then showed that obnoxious Zell Miller calling Kerry a name. They showed that one segment on every newscast.

Many of the news outlets will go down if they don't quit propping up
the Bush allies. They should be embarassed to do this.

7. Today's Bush endorses Intel Czar headline seems to be a media con.
Why is CIA director supersized to Nat'l Director, with an aid as CIA head?

"Under the reorganization Bush is backing, the CIA would be managed by a separate director and the national intelligence director would assume the broader responsibility of leading the intelligence community government-wide."

Does this mean the Nat'l Director has hire/fire and budget over all 15 intel agencies - or is this just window dressing?

The CIA Director now "leads" all 15 intel groups - but just does not have hire/fire and budget control of them.

It sure looks like Bush - and our media - are pulling a fast one as they con us that Bush has accepted the Committee recommendations.

12. What "oversee" authority does Bush see the Nat'l Director having?
The CIA director not only heads his own agency but also oversees the U.S. intelligence community, which has grown to 15 agencies, but the director has neither budgetary authority nor day-to-day operational control of the other agencies, most of which are in the Defense Department. A national intelligence director would oversee all the agencies.

COULD SOMEONE SAY WHAT "oversee" MEANS THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IT MEANS IN THE "CIA director oversees the U.S. intelligence community"

Why locating intel director outside of Executive Office of the President per MSNBC video of Bush announcement:

McClellan cites undue political pressure

President Bush says, "I think it ought to be a stand-alone group to better coordinate, particularly between foreign intelligence and domestic intelligence matters."

White House chief-of-staff Andrew Card says the director is going to have a large staff and there wouldn't be room for them in the White House.

accepting in totality the commission's proposals would have led to an unwieldy intelligence "czar" in the Cabinet.

KERRY SAYS CALL CONGRESS BACK NOW; BUSH SAYS SEPT. IS SOON ENOUGH -never mind that Bush resisted creation of the Sept. 11 in the first place, as well as establishment of the Department of Homeland Security. His fast call to action this time was widely seen as politically adept — and threw up obstacles to Kerry's nomination victory lap - as seen by our media.

But our media does not ask Bush for details!

10. hooray!!!!!!
Thanks for "verbalizing" something I was thinking yesterday.

We may be wasting time protesting Bush or talking about Bush, when it appears that the power to influence the electorate lies not with the Bush campaign but with the Washington press corps.

If we could get half as many people protesting media outlets as are protesting Bush, we might actually get somewhere. They need to see our rage!!

11. The Media has the power to elevate or destroy a candidate.....
We all know how the News Media swiftly destroyed Dean in a matter of weeks, collapsing what took him a year to build up.

The News Media, headed by only 5 corporations, is the most powerful entity in the United States in terms of controlling National Opinion. Think of it, the News Media for most Americans is the only middleman between the news itself and them. So the opinions (or the biaseness of the coverage) of the News Media can drastically change opinion swiftly. Thats how Dean was destroyed, because the News Media installed a LOT of doubt on Dean. And now they are trying to do it to Kerry.

This, unfortunately this may mean that the NEWS MEDIA HAS THE POWER TO DECIDE WHO WINS THIS ELECTION.

Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 05:37 PM by Tight_rope
And it's truly sad that people haven't woken up to the fact that what the Media is saying about how well the economy is doing and how well the war on Iraq is going, is contradicting to their everyday life. If things are so great with the economy why are so many people out of work. If the war in Iraq is going just as planned why are people still fighting. "WHEN WILL AMERICAN'S WAKE UP"!

21. THANK YOU!!!!
And the complicity goes back to the 2000 campaign and coverage of the election debacle.

I think you are right that people are waking up. Another reason to turn off mainstream news. They're not even reporting what's actually happening in the country, i.e., a tremendous grassroots response to Kerry. It's going to knock them down and leave them flat.

30. Why the sudden media tilt? Easy.
They have too much invested in Chimp--a Kerry win means their hero worship and war mongering will have been ytterky rejected by America. Even worse, they know that the left will have a field day ridiculing them personally and collectively. They know the Democrats will get their revenge.

So, how bout we help bring that about? Send them a calm letter vowing never to watch/read/listen again. And don't. Activism will change this. Griping helps us make it through the day (Hey, I'm Griper in Chief) but it won't get results.
