What the fool is Condi Rice's job as National Security Advisor?
Watching the 2 WH press conf on the new cabinet-level-pay position that will advise the Pres on security issues, I can't help but wonder what the fool Condi does? And it struck me that this new group sounds awfully like OSP.

3. "We never expected they'd fly planes into buildings"
So what were you expecting Condi?

The fact that she failed as the President's National Security advisor makes me wonder why she's still advising this pResident? What will be the excuse when the next attack occurs?

4. We haaaaave a winnnnnnerrrrrrr!
Am I the only one who thinks the entire thrust of the 9/11 recommendations was to cover Condi's butt?

Think about it. If the National Security Advisor couldn't/didn't sift through the intelligence and make sound recommendations to the pres isn't that a failure of THIS administration?

Dubya couldn't have his wif....er...ah...National Security Advisor/Close Confidant/best friend blamed for the intelligence failures..........

12. Here, here!
Exactly what I think! The 9-11 Commission has covered BOTH Condi and *'s butt by putting in these ridiculous recommendations. Had Condi DONE HER JOB and had * DOES HIS JOB, adding another cabinet position and another bureaucracy wouldn't be unnecessary.

5. I asked the smae thing, but it was answered on c-span
I thought the National Security Advisor job was just what the 0/11 Commission was recommending, except it would have congressional oversight and more responsibility. (And Condi wouldn't be the right person!) I don't remember who the guest was on c-span the other day, but he described the difference.

The National Security Advisor is a policy position. That job is to recommend policies to the President.

The National Intelligence Director is an operations position. That job is to be the central collection point of all information from all 15 agencies, and present a coordinated operations status to the President.

I happen to think, if you have the right person in the Presidency, you don't need the National Security Advisor!

7. Condi is on the payroll
as a token African-American in a repuke administration. She is paid to show up and look serious whenever the chimp has something security-related to read. Her testimony before the 9/11 commission proved that she is totally incompetent.

9. Window dressing
Her job is to pat the Dumbass on the back and give him hugs. Also, she sits around in the back looking evil so the children of America are scared. Wonder what she does when spending time with Dumbass & his zombie wife when they are all at the ranch. It sure is strange that this Admin. has two spokepersons, Dumbass & Sleaza, when they are so crappy at speaking and lying.

13. Her "expertise" and worldview

is rooted in the Soviet empire / cold war era. She's not an
adaptive thinker and, thus, out of her depth now. She should
never been NSA and should have been eased out after her failure
of 9/11.

10. she adds diversity to the cabinet
besides that, like everyone else in this administration, her only functions are to cash paychecks and spout the daily talking points.
