Bush should really be considering this. He and his "buddies" are steadily eroding social safety nets, environmental protections, job security, government assistance to disabled and elderly, health care access... the list goes on for pages.
What he doesn't seem to GET is that when you create large numbers of people who have literally NOTHING left to lose, home, job, money, health... you create a DANGEROUS group.
What motivates young men in the middle east to strap explosives to themselves and die violently? It's NOT *all* ideologically motivated!
Many do it because they have been promised Paradise... AND (far more importantly) they have been told THEIR FAMILIES WILL BE CARED FOR!
In a land where the dichotomy between poverty and wealth is so wide, where there IS no health care, no security from abject poverty and starvation, people WILL do "whatever it takes" to help their parents, siblings, children, to survive.
Time and time again we have seen in countries where huge inequities exist, that people will increasingly turn to violence to try to provide for their families or in anger at the oppressive regime.
Dainy, Bush and his cronies chip away at the structure. Daily they saw away at the branch they are sitting on. If some guy who had been making over $100,000 annually lost his (or her) job and ended up on the streets, what would convince... COULD convince him NOT to take direct revenge against the bastards who put him there?
NOT a good move, Georgie! Not good at all.
