Iraq. There was a thread floating earlier, and in the middle someone mentioned that he had gotten back after spending almost a year in Iraq. I meant to say something, and for a while looked to see if anyone else did, and didn't see anything before it disappeared and I lost track of it.

I want to at least say to anyone who had the misfortune to spend any time in Iraq:

The liberals, the democrats appreciate what you have done, and will hopefully never have a family member going through similar hells. I know that you should be proud of your service, and there are many who worked to get you home; even prayed for your safety though they did not know you.

I don't want any soldier to feel forgotten or unappreciated.

Thanks for putting your life on the line, and may there be peace between "us" and "them" soon.

Not really, of course, but didn't anyone get the point of this thread was to say thanks to those that sacrificed (even if for no reason)?

2. I am worried about them & how they are being treated.
-DemocracyNow! had a very sad story about a young Marine who committed suicide 6 weeks ago -- his parents gave a long interview talking about his life and his death. They also mentioned that he'd been ordered to shoot 2 unarmed Iraqi men. Sounded like he wasn't able to livie with himself after that.

-Article in the Chronicle the other day about a local man who came back and couldn't find a job now that he was out of the service.

-There's so many homeless in our city, I pass them on the street. What can I do besides give them a little food? I wonder whether any are vets.

I would like to find out where they gather (I don't know if there's any military facilities around here; I don't think so but I could be wrong) to do something for them, but I don't know what.
