Funnier Jon Stewart (if he had taped a few hours later)
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 11:29 PM by scottxyz
STEWART: This week's top news is the Democratic Convention, where Kerry had great success --

ASSISTANT runs on-stage, whispers to STEWART and hands him a slip of paper titled "Late Breaking News".

STEWART: This just in: The Bush Administration has just learned that Osama "Bin Laden is determined to strike inside the US", possibly in New York or Washington DC, in the next few weeks - i.e., in late August or early September of two thousand and ---- one ...

CUT.

In his actual show Monday night, Stewart did halariously point out that Bush MIGHT have been using this "terror alert" as "wag-the-dog" to distract from the very successful Democratic Convention.

A few hours after Jon taped this piece, NYT and WaPo published first-page stories proving not only that Bush DID wag the dog - but that he also used old intel - which was three to four years old.

Maybe Condi was right-on when she said that the info in that PDB was "historical".

2. Woodruff creamed Dean BEFORE NYT/WaPo proved Dean was right
I wonder when we can be expecting an apology/correction from her?

Atrios has her self-incriminating statements:

3. I can't believe they went after Dean on his CNN statements!
From what I saw (Wolf interview), nothing at all was said that was remotely controversial. They are chasing false controversies when a pile of them has been heaped in front of their faces.
