fun thought for the day...
if clinton had, let's say, completely ignored intelligence of pending millenium attacks and not instructed sandy berger to force cia and fbi to work together and put everything else on the back burner... would he still be in office? and where would his approval rating be? 75%? competence can be your worst enemy, sometimes...

2. your lack of imagination is appalling!
if there's a terror attack, the president can do whatever the hell he wants. ask tommy ridge, or perhaps fdr.

i'm just saying, if the millenium attacks had been allowed to happen, clinton could be waltzing into his fourth term if he so chose. how many unpopular future presidents won't lie awake at night and secretly wish for that oh-so-elusive 40 point bounce that can only arise from the admitted downside of letting a few thousand americans die?
