To those of you fretting about an "October Surprise"...

Has it ever occurred to you that John Kerry might have HIS OWN October Surprise in the works? Something to knock our socks off? Not that I know of anything, but he is a very intelligent, well-connected (Senate Intel Committee) and resourceful man and tactician.

There is no rule that says only incumbents or republicans can cook up "October Surprises" (or that they have to be illegal, like Reagan's)

He's our nominee. Have a little faith.

1. This wouldn't really be a surprise but...

Kerry should totally destroy Bush in the debates, (I think JK was one of the best in the history of the Yale debate team). Edwards should do the same to Cheney. What he loses on foreign policy he will more than make up for in domestic policy. And they're both fast learners. Who's to say that they aren't talking about foreign policy on a regular basis so that Edwards knows a little more besides just common sense (which still beats the GOP, but not by much). And Kerry already seems slightly less "stiff" just by being around Edwards.

But Bush has the presidency and the government, making it a lot more likely that he could pull off an October Surprise.

What could Kerry do? Well a Nader endorsement would be helpful, or a promise to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq. If the war worsens and casualties mount further, you could see it happen, as public support deteriorate.

8. there will be two major October surprises, for sure:

1) The release of Fahrenheit 9/11 to home video

2) The death of the 1000th G.I. in Iraq
