Did anyone else hear the reporter on MSNBC
I can't think of her name, say that some intelligence agents are telling the press that the only updating of this old info was on ONE building and that was only on a computer in Pakistan. These agents want this information, which contradicts what Tom Ridge is saying, to get out.

She said this during a satellite break up while Ridge was speaking. I think this is a huge story. These agents are saying as much as they can that this is political.

6. The anchors didn't comment on the reporter' comments.
The satellite feed came back right away we heard more from Ridge. After he was finished this reporter wasn't on again.

That Townsend hag from the administration just repeated again that "MUCH of the intelligence was updated in January." This is not what some intelligence agents are telling some of the press.

7. Is that her name - Townsend?
Typical Bushwhore. How dare anyone think this was politically motivated!

Off topic: How come Bush women always look the type that hate having sex?

8. I heard that
she also ADMITTED that, maybe, they should have put something in Ridge's statement about it being old news

course, had they DONE that, nobody would have paid any attention to this

they don't CARE about the lies, elisions, omissions

they don't have a media to all em on such

they got their message out there, and spectacularly so.

nothing else matters to them

the corrections, like this eency one today, will be ignored

4. Also, on 9/11 Bush himself said the Secret Service
overruled him on returning to Washington DC, so why didn't the Secret Service overrule Laura, the daughters and Bush on Laura going to the very building that was targeted for terror. Either he lied on 9/11 or he lied yesterday but no one has mentioned this at all. The Repugs said they couldn't stand Clinton because he lied, but apparently Bush, a known liar, is their hero. Hipocracy abounds.

5. the media's difficulty in speaking out
is unforgivable but you know, as they do, if they mock chicken little and something happens Bush will blame them. Can't you just hear it now?

If that were to happen, the press would never dare to criticize Bush or his warnings again.

I was always amazed that Hitler came to power. He was so inadequate to the job (see, there are some ways that Bush is like Hitler). But if you believe, which I don't, that Bush is capable of staging a terror attack, all he'd have to do is warn one was coming, wait until the media debunks it, cause it to happen then blame the media for doubting him. Of course, the media will always debunk it if you have half a dozen false alarms first. Sound familiar? The people then turn on the media, refusing to believe it, and believe only what KKK Rove says.

Scary.

9. These guys take "covering your ass" to the extreme.
I don't care how many times BushCo "reminds" us of impending doom. If an attack happens on his watch, he screwed up big-time.

10. Four things really bother me about this
Even when Bush gets caught

1) it doesn't matter because the Truth never gets as much publicity as the lie,

2)even when he gets caught he's already managed to disrupt a new cycle that was running against him,

3) the media will support this because terra alerts push the news ratings up and

4) Even if it's a temporary rally round the flag bump in his support he can time one for right before the election.

Who said he's only a LITTLE like Hitler.

12. But what I think is huge about this is that some
intelligence agents, and this reporter stressed this, agentS, are telling the press that what Ridge is saying, while he is saying it, is not true.

Have to run. Be gone for a few hours. Hope I can think of the reporters name. A blonde with medium length hair. This reporter wrote a book a year or so ago about Iraq or Afghanistan etc. God it's hell to get old. The mind is going.

11. twice, yesterday
Edited on Tue Aug-03-04 10:35 AM by Neecy
I have a summer cold so I sacked out on the couch yesterday and channel-flipped. While CNN was spouting the 'terra terra terra' line, I saw on MSNBC two different intelligence analysts - one was ex-CIA - who dismissed this as 'old information' and noted that while information was compiled, there was no indication that cells were here and/or had the explosives required.

Of course, later in the evening Andrea Mitchell enthused on Hardball about how this 'fear factor' was HELPING George Bush, because he's so CREDIBLE in protecting us. She seemed particularly desperate to push this line. That's when I flipped the set off - too much whoring just makes me queasy.

13. Can't believe I didn't remember DANA PRIEST.
Thought of her name the minute I got in the car.

I heard an NBC investigative reporter say the intelligence agents are not criticizing that the warning was given but the way it was given. Are they backing down now ?

He repeated almost all of the stuff from the computer was old. Of course now Ridge et al are saying that 9/11 was planned in 98 and a plot to kill Clinton in Manila was planned for 2 years. What a bunch of bull.
