What Nimrod would base an elevated terror alert on 3-year old intel?
Tom Ridge, apparently.

Just saw an item on the local Fox station news stating that the intelliegence (you know - "the unusually specific intelligence") on which the raised terror alert in the NYC area is being based actually PRE-DATES the 9/11 attacks!!!!!:wtf:

That means that either this whole thing is just politically motivated (surprise, surprise!), or that the Bushies are completely and totally incompetent.

Everyone with ANY experience with intelligence knows that it basically has a 72 hour shelf life, and after that is of questionable accuracy, at best. (Which, incidentally, is just one more reason why the tortures at Abu Ghraib were so heinous; they couldn't have been anything but totally useless.)

What's up with these Buttnuggets?!?!?!

4. Nope, not incompetent
They do this purposely, obviously; whenever * is in a little trouble the terra-ists are brought out. Just when the media and people in general were going to digest the Dem convention, they bring out 3-year old information and raise the alert level. It's painfully obvious what's going on here.

5. Talk about closing the barn door after the horse has bolted!
But to answer you question: a desperate group of people trying to hold on to power with the only trick in their bag: fear.

10. Why doesn't Al Queda target any red states?
Ever notice how the "terra alerts" are always in states that turn blue during election time? So far we had New Mexico, and California last week, NY, NJ, and Washington DC this week, and a few weeks back there was chatter for Seattle. For some reason, Al Queda (errr... the Bush Administration) never seems to target the backwoods red voting states. One would think Texas would at least have it's share of "terra threats". Granted, if this happened, many minorities would more than likely be lynched.

11. Ridge shill making the rounds this am trying to justify this
"even tho it was old, it was updated in January and it's still active"

Why should we believe a word they say?

Seems to me that Kerry inched ahead and they beat the slaves for a distraction, found one, didn't read past the first sentnence or two, and then quickly called the multi million $ alert--only to find later that once again they had made a costly "gentleman C" mistake that an A student like Kerry or Gore would NOT have made.
