Based on an effort by Diebold to kill something we did with ABC, I thought better of giving the heads up on this. Watch CNBC Sunday 8 pm Eastern to see what this is all about, hoping they don't pull the show.

Gov. Dean thanked us for fighting for democracy. I responded, "As so many of us are."

As Nostamj is. As MoPaul is. "Question W" getting rave reviews in New York

DU's Nostamj put together a political cabaret, the "Question W Revue" and its run has just been extended. Watch the New York media for three thumbs up reviews in a row.

The Revue pokes fun at policies and lies pretty mercilessly -- DU's MoPaul did the show's artwork, quite funny. Hopefully someone will post that image here, the Pez dispenser of lies.

Truth gets spread many ways. Nostamj just decided to go out there and make a difference, and his show, extended for another month, is capturing very knowledgeable, smart crowds.

The most heartening thing about the problems we're facing is the mobilization of people everywhere. Of course, in our issue, voting, it has become clear that election officials don't really want people involved. Perhaps that is true in most political issues nowadays. So -- since they don't want us involved, we should all get much MORE involved, don't you think?

Look forward to meeting more of you as we continue investigations.

It has taken forever to get the new web site done, the consumer reports format, mostly because Andy and I have been traveling nonstop and working about 100 hours a week on new investigations, with very minimal access to the Internet. We have now had employees from Diebold share information with us in five offices -- Everett, McKinney, Canton, Vancouver, and one we won't name as the office is quite small and it would point the finger at the source. This has provided a breadth of consistent information that validates the concerns we have all had with this company.

We should be home for a few days, and the top priority is to get the new web site, and the new consumer reports, posted by the end of this week.

All the best,

Bev Harris & Andy Stephenson

(political views are our own and do not officially represent the nonprofit group Black Box Voting)

12. Well -- FLA Republicans trying to get people not to vote touch screen
Republicans, at least, were being advocated to vote by absentee in Florida. Then Jeb made the Republicans pull that ad, but we have the jpg file.

A killer lawsuit has been filed in California, with backing from Verified Voting, and the candidate who's fighting for auditing is a Republican.

This is a nonpartisan issue.

I would very much like to watch, and get my friends to watch as well. Thanks to you and Andy for continuing to work on this, and you won't find a better advocate than Howard Dean. Also, kudos to nostamj for his cabaret extravaganza--I heard it will be running during the RNC. :toast:

20. Oh. Aug 8. That must be why my husband looked at me strangely
When I gave him an anniversary present (Aug 2) on Sunday. I guess that was actually Aug. 1. Okay. I was home for a total of one hour, and this takes a toll.

Andy and I are both very, very lucky to have supportive partners.

You made a wise decision in pulling back on the info.

And I want to let you know that I've been reading your posts for years, here and elsewhere, and I admire what you are doing so very much!

That is incredible news. It makes every single county that uses these machines subject to lawsuit.

19. "election officials don't really want people involved..."
In many places they just want to pay a contractor like Diebold and be done with it.

In some places they have a tradition of cheating.

DRE voting machines can be used to automate many traditional forms of election fraud. Imagine a ballot box that's smaller than a playing card, or election results that can be "edited" as easily as I'm posting here on DU...

I have great respect for the artists among us. Let's all work together and solve this problem.

The time bomb is ticking...

and thanks for all you do --
After talking about this in Boston last week to anyone who would listen, I was amazed at how gullible and trusting people are about these machines.
The work you guys are doing is amazing -- and may eventually open the eyes of even the most resistant.
Stay safe!!!

28. Hi Bev & Andy - what's wrong with this picture? Hint - 'Cards cast'
With 415 of 415 precinct reporting Johnson Co. Kansas is showing Voter Turnout: 91,789 28.2% in today's primary.
Registered Voters 325453 - Cards Cast 0

http://www.jocoelection.org/Results/results080304.htm

I guess maybe it's just a 'minor programming anomaly'.

Maybe they don't count as cast until they print off them-thar 'ballot images' from the computer and cast their eyes over 'em.

Safe travels..
