I have a friend I've known for decades who is a libertarian party activist in Louisiana. Their state convention was held in New Orleans last weekend and I stopped by to say hello.
The guest speaker was Michael Badnarik who is running for prez on their ticket. Interestingly, on Saturday, they were visited by republican operatives who harangued them about stealing votes from Bush* (the republican version of the Nader problem). Of course, they were not swayed.
Their convention material was interesting. The famous montage of the Iraq war dead morphed into a picture of George Fucking Bush, and other such materials.
While I don't think Badnarik will take as many votes from Bush* as Nader will take from Kerry, with a race this close, a few thousand or tens of thousands of votes in the right states could be significant. There are some SERIOUSLY pissed off former republicans in their camp. They are FURIOUS about IraqNam and government spending going out of control.
I'm thinking of contributing to the Libertarian party. Any ideas on how effective that might be in squeaking a few more voters away from Bush who would never vote for Kerry?
