Will fear win this election?
That's what the Repugs are pushing: totally irrational, vastly exaggerated, and continuous fear.

When I hear voter comments on the propagana box, it seems to be working. People know Shrub is a failure at everything else but they think he'll protect them. Pathetic.

3. For Kerry....
I am more afraid of 4 more years of Chimp & Co. than I am of any "terra-ist".

I think Kerry has to hammer home what another 4 years of the Bush Administration will do to this country. Fear-mongering against the RW machine.

4. A very interesting study of voting behavior from Sunday Monitor,..

A couple of professors have done extensive studies on voting behavior.

After being asked to think about their own death or a (neutral) control topic and then read campaign statements of three hypothetical political candidates, each with a different leadership style -- charismatic, task-oriented, or relationship-oriented -- there was an almost 800 percent increase in votes for the charismatic leader, but no increase for the two other candidates.

"Relationship-oriented" is the one who indicates that "we are going to work together" to make a better future, etc. "Charismatic" is more like "I'm the one that will protect you from this evil"..

It was deeply disturbing. You can listen to the interview by finding it on the kpftx.org archive for Sunday Monitor, August 3.

The Sunday Monitor interview was much more detailed and interesting than the http://apollo.skidmore.edu/news/news.release.detail_show?p_news_id=693">article I found on the web.

7. Thanks for the info--(your link has two http's in it so doesn't work
Here's a fixed link:

It certainly explains why the Repugs are hammering the fear card. This info indicates it will be very successful.

5. The results of the election tell us about the American character
If Bush is sworn in on January 20,2005, we are a nation of cowards.

If Kerry is sworn in on January 20,2005, we are a nation of the courageous.
