I know first hand about the "newly created jobs pay less" from a hiring
point of view.

My employer is a cheap skate in my opinion. I have an opening for a position that pays around $8/hr. I've had an ad in the paper for a week and got about 100 resumes.

The thing I'm finding is that a lot of the resumes are from people with an AA degree or BA degree or have had a much better position than I have open and they want this job! They feel it is better than what they have or they are unemployed.

It is such strange feeling to get so many resumes from people who wouldn't even consider this job during Clinton's term. I did a lot of hiring then and that's why I can do a comparison.

WASHINGTON - A campaign worker for President Bush said Thursday American workers unhappy with low-quality jobs should find new ones — or pop a Prozac to make themselves feel better.

“Why don’t they get new jobs if they’re unhappy — or go on Prozac?” said Susan Sheybani, an assistant to Bush campaign spokesman Terry Holt.

3. I read that too and got pissed off
I bet that campaigner has never ever had to work a job in the 'real' world in her life.

about how the unemployed were finding themselves competing with their own children for jobs paying less than $10 an hour.

On edit: Decided to get off my shiftless lazy butt and look it up:

"...(T)he workers I met in Galesburg, Illinois, who are losing their union jobs at the Maytag plant that’s moving to Mexico...now are having to compete with their own children for jobs that pay seven bucks an hour."

--Barack Obama
