I used to live in an army town. One thing I noticed early on is that a lot of people I saw who were in the military drove nice cars. Often they were brand new.

Local car dealers basically preyed upon them by giving them credit they couldn't really afford with very high interest rates. These people are in debt up to their eyeballs. Seeing a buck private in a $25,000 car was commonplace.
