I first saw the stories about the dated data here.

One poster did a great thing with Ridge's words counterpointed with 'THREE. YEARS. OLD.' I am using it.

Another posted made a joke about the next warning being about the Millenium bug. I am using that, too.

Basically, the best lines in the piece came from here.

Top Bush administration officials said some of the surveillance was apparently updated as recently as January of this year. And they denied any allegations that the public release of the information now, and the raising of the terror alert, were politically motivated. They said the information was released now because it was just uncovered in Pakistan.

"We don't do politics in the Department of Homeland Security," Ridge said. "Our job is to identify the threat."

The plot aims at major attacks on financial institutions symbolic of U.S. influence in the global economy, Ridge said.

18. Terror Alerts = Free Campaign Ads

I loved the way Ridge slipped in a plug for the Bush campaign during his terror alert statement when he gushed about "the President's leadership in the war on terror," and implied that Bush’s leadership should be credited for this four-year-old information on which the alert is based.

Homeland security? Their homepage almost looks like a Bush campaign website.

mske your piece more effective would be to quote from some of the prediction threads.

I remember a response in a thread I started in which a DUer predicted that an attack would be thwarted based on information gleaned from aggressive inteerogation of a subject captured in Pakistan. S/he was right on the money.


The DU predictions prove that anyone who expands their media horizons beyond CNN can recognize the Admin's BS in a second. The craven, cynical mediawhores, of course, recognize it too--they're willing accomplices.
