There Will Be 1,093 Dead Soldiers in Iraq By the Time You Mark Your Ballot
This judges the rate at which soldiers have died in Iraq since the handover, and extropolates that figure out over the next few months. The so-called "handover" in Iraq was June 28. We'll spot them the two days to bring us up to June 30, when the handover was supposed to happen.

Since July 1, we have lost 65 soldiers. That's 65 soldiers in 34 days, for an average of 1.91 soldiers per day. There are 91 days between now and the election. 91 days times 1.91 soldiers/day equals 173.9 soldiers that will die between now and the election, at the current rate.

So at this rate, the death toll will be 1,093 dead soldiers by November 2.

2. What do you think will happen when it reaches 1,000?
People tend to pay attention to nice round numbers like that. Do you think it will get the media's attention?

And approximately when will it reach that number?

4. 1000 is the magic number
I've been saying for the last few months that 1000 would be the number that will get hit hard and resonate. It's sad that 999 don't matter, but when it hits 1000, people will notice. I just wonder what Rove and Co. have up their sleeves to counteract this since it is inevitable...
