1. Thanks for posting this.
I sent it to myself in an email so I can read it later. I especially like what the man says about the bible differentiating between sexual addiction and a healthy partnership.

2. A great read - I disagree a little - but in general a solid interpretation

AS the author Bruce Lowe, notes, Jesus said we live by grace and the spirit - but I do not recall Jesus's rejection of the "law" - so I'll give him a "C" as a grade for this line of reasoning.

Likewise I give a "C", for the line of reasoning that the New Testament Romans 1:21, 26, 27 has Paul is listing sins - not a list of that which God will condemn anyone - but those that occur because people have forsaken Him, since it is not sex - but lust - that is the sin - so it can not be gay sex. I buy this - but I do not see as clearly as Bruce Lowe that "lust" is obvious - I come to the same conclusion - but it was not obvious to me (maybe I am just a little dense!)

But from here on, Bruce Lowe, IMHO, is spot on in the rest of the "letter" - at least the parts I understand.

I agree that Paul saw no problem with Women Priests - which makes the Pope's view rather curious. Paul did indeed call Phoebe a deacon (using the same word he uses elsewhere for men) and said that Junia is "prominent among the apostles.". He tells of Pricilla's "expounding" the truths of Christianity to a man (Acts 18:26) and of two women in Philippi (a Roman colony) who labored alongside men in helping him in his work (Phil. 4:2-3) - and indeed there are many references to women who did prophesy (often meaning "preaching").

And I liked his noting that Sodom's (19:5] "know them." is from the Hebrew verb "yadha," "to know," which is used 943 times in the OT and only ten times clearly to mean "have sex," where it then means heterosexual sex since the word normally used for homosexual sex is "shakhabh." - indeed Jesus' references to Sodom (Luke 10:10-13) seems to imply lack of hospitality as the sin - but Lot offering his two virgin daughters over to the violent and lecherous inhabitants of Sodom is not something I understand - but Bruce Lowe does not really explain that act either in his "letter"(but who said I must completely understand the Bible?!).

And I agree that Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 (22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman, it is an abomination., and 13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death...) are both part of the Old Testament Holiness Code, a religious, not a moral code - which later became the Jewish Purity Laws where God required purity for his worship - and I buy into the idea that abomination - if ignored as in non-orthodox Jewish food and clothing choices - should be able to be ignored in this reference.

And the mis-translation in I Corinthians 6 : 9 of the Greek Malakoi ("soft" as in Matt. 11:8 and Luke 7:25 where it is translated as morally weak - rather than gay ) is spot on - and Arsenokoitai, meaning "pederast", a corrupter of boys, rather than gay - is again spot on.

Indeed our GOP friends should remember that Ezekiel says that the people of Sodom had been blessed with abundance, but they did not help the poor and needy. This is their sin of omission.

The GOP may be in trouble!
