1. Honestly, what can they say?

I mean, the media will simply move on to whatever's next (hopefully white, female and cute), and Ridge's dishonest little hysterical spasm will be shoved down the Memory Hole. The conserva-whackos can only hope that we'll find something else to beat them over the head with. That's okay; there's no shortage of clubs in my bag.
