A contradiction between reports in the papers and White House version
..in regards to the "fake" terror alert. Today, the White House and Homeland Security are saying that there are recent "updates" in the information found on the disks in Pakistan, more specifically, from January 2004. The NYTimes, Washington Post and other papers have reported that there were no files with dates that were post-9/11??? (I will try to find the link) Which is correct? Is this just a small discrepancy and not worth investigation?

1. Just a note to what you said
I keep hearing this January thing reported. Okay..so, doesn't that go right to the "bogus" part??? Why weren't we putting NYC, DC and NJ in lockdown all the way back then?? How come a week after the Dem Convention as the media builds to the Repub convention, we go into "alert" mode??? Why didn't we gear things up in January--did we assume Arabs didn't like the cold????

3. No. They say they only got the disk 3 days ago....
and that is when they found the disk had been "updated" in January...Very confusing.

2. A contradiction between reality and White House version
Any contradiction is worth reporting. That's the role of the free press.

4. from the BBC
posted earlier courtesy of Walt Starr.

"Sheikh Rashid Ahmed stressed that although details had been
shared with the US, at no time had he or other Pakistani officials
said the information collected contained plans for future attacks
on the US or UK."
