Surely Ed didn't REALLY call Rhandi Rhodes a slut???! How could he? He needs to be supporting our party and THAT includes Rhandi Rhodes and Al Franken! We NEED Air America Radio whether Ed likes it or not and I would kindly ask him to apoligize for calling Rhandi that DISGUSTING name! Please. First the republican party attacks our future First lady, then Bob Dole says "there isn't a muzzle big enough" to silence Teresa Heinz Kerry and NOW Ed Schultz is calling a DEMOCRATIC radio host a slut? What is it with men and strong women? Are we a threat or what? Please, tell Ed to apologize for the good of our party.

Thanks for you thoughts….I agree he shouldn’t have called Randi that! Let me give you a little history. Randi and Ed were selected by Democracy Radio to be the first Liberal to be syndicated nationally. Ed won out over Randi and she has had it in for him ever since. We have received many e-mails from listeners saying she attacks him on the air. She even did it in front of us at a fundraiser for Democracy Radio and all the Senators were there…Ed has always kept his mouth shut, until today. I know he’ll regret it. Hopefully you can forgive him too. I know he’ll apologize. Keep listening ******!

Ed lost his cool, but he was probably fed up with the whole thing. Obviously, he's pissed.

I doubt that he'll swallow his pride and apologize. Especially when Rhandi lays into him tomorrow! ;) Her show should be interesting, needless to say and I doubt she'll hold back! His insult was uncalled for. Period. Whatever she dishes out tomorrow, he has coming! IMO

I think the fact that I know who she is and have never heard of him speaks for itself.

I hope she makes a joke out of it. Women shouldn't have to worry about possibly being wounded by stupid words like that. She should say "wouldn't you rather be in a slut like Randi than in a rut like Ed" or something.

6. omgoodness - did he do this today? I missed it but caught his tirade

against 'Franken' over Al's comments on Letterman last night. Ed was really overwrought about it - kept asking 'who is we' after playing the clip of Al talking to Dave.

When did he blast RR? I tuned out for maybe half an hour today.

10. very early in his show today...

He and his wife were watching Al on Letterman last night and he got miffed over Al proclaiming AAR number one in Portland...And Ed is also very popular here but he is not AAR..Anyways, he goes into the Franken thing and as aside says..."and that Randi slut..." He then went into a full blown anger alert but that's when I turned off my radio...I think it was unnecessary, uncalled for, boorish, and just flat out too bad because Ed was mad at Al and chose to make a remark about Randi. But there's definitely bad blood between those two, which I find interesting because of all the liberal hosts on radio these two definitely have the biggest egos out there and I find these two sometimes grate on me more than the others (plus Ed bumps Randi on KPOJ)...But the two have different audiences, and bothe do very good work, I hope someday there is more than one radio station broadcasting liberal talk shows so we don't have to put up with this any more than necessary, that is, changing the channel instead of turning it off!

I can see why Schultz is annoyed about not getting his props on Letterman last night. After all, he takes great pains to point out that he's not Air America- and to his credit, he started on his own with squat for publicity- and he's been popular here in Portland. The more I think about it, the more all this sounds like some warped radioland version of office politics.

Even so, I think it would be in his best interest to say a few words to mend a few fences tomorrow-

They both go a little over the top at times. For every person who's offended by Ed's remarks, there's probably another person who's thinking "right on." Oregon is a funny place- not so long ago, we all used to get along here and get things done- even though we all had lots of different opinions on the issues and called each other names, in the end, we tended to make positive progress more often than not.

I think a lot of people pine for those days, so my guess is that in this market, there's not only room for both of them, but a need for both of them.

16. Randi talked about the trouble she had with him

As best as I can recall is that she said that she was trying to get them both jobs on that network. But Ed was sort of cutthroat and was only out for himself and proactively trying to cut Randi out of the deal. He got his way. Maybe he doesn't like the idea that Randi told the story after she joined AAR.

As I am sure you are aware, Ed Shultz went on a bit of
a tirade today against Al Franken and Air America, believing
he had been slighted during Franken's appearance on
David Letterman's program Monday evening.

I am writing in hopes that you will impress on Mr. Shultz
how seriously liberals and progressives feel about the
insulting language Mr. Shultz used to refer to Randi Rhodes.
He called her "Randi Slut."

That is completely uncalled for, out of line, out of bounds,
and seriously calls into question Mr. Shultz' bona fides
as a genuine "leftie." No real "leftie" I know would use
that kind of blatantly sexist language.

I believe an apology is in order.
