Orange County: one of the most conservative places on the planet
yet Fox based a Beverly Hills 90210 influenced show on it?

2. To tell you the truth, FOX, not the news of course, used to be my fave
by FAR out of all the broadcast channels. I mean, c'mon, Simpsons, Married With Children, King Of The Hill, Malcolm In The Middle, X-Files. Who can beat that?

What I'm puzzled about though is that since Orange County is known as hyper-conservative, why did they base a supposedly trashy teen show called the "O.C." about it?

5. For the same reason you had Henry Hyde whining about
Clintons infedility as he was making the beats with two backs with someone not his wife.. their true to life hypocricy. It made great TV.

8. There's fundies there...
where aren't there fundies. Orange County is a mixed bag though, there are artists in the Laguna Beach area and Hispanics in the Santa Ana area and there are wealthy areas like Newport Beach. I don't live in Orange County, I live in Los Angeles County but I am in OC fairly often.

9. Whole lotta' fundies goin' on...
There's a huge Holy Roller Pentacostal population there. Many years ago one of my ex boyfriends took me to me his family in Orange County. He didn't tell me they were Pentacostals - he thought it would be "funny" to surprise me (and them) since I'm not known for keeping my mouth shut. So - gay couple shows up and family is speechless. However, when they found out I could cook I was part of the family. Have you ever had someone try to tell you all about Jesus with a full mouth?

6. Actually the show is not
that bad, if you're into 'soapy' type TV (sometimes I am just cause I need something lite). One of the main characters is an adult who is this idealistic type and he takes on cases for free so that he can help people and battle corporate greed. Faux though would put on the most liberal of programming as long as it would make money for them, they are total whores.x(

7. It aint your father's Orange COunty anymore

It's changed since the 50's and 60's when it was the poster child for radical conservatism and the hotbed of the John Birch Society
