On second thought, the K of C is mostly made up of old white men
and that's the demographic that typically votes republican (not exclusively, of course)

2. What prompted this?
I'm assuming you are referring to the Knights of Columbus?

My dad used to belong there, although strangely enough it was when he was in his twenties (He's in his mid 50's now). I don't remember when or why he stopped being a member.

3. Bush made a speech at the Knights of Columbus conventuion in Dallas
Though they claim to be non-partisan it was a fucking political rally with chants of "4 more years" and everything. :puke:

5. If I'm not mistaken they are ver pro-life.....
I'm stretching the catacombs of my memory here, but I think that my dad's friends who are still involved in K of C are extremely pro-life. I'm sure that also factors into it. It may have even factored into why he stopped digging on that scene as well.

7. If I'm not mistaken, Knights of Columbus is a Catholica organization
I've heard Bush is going hard-core after the Catholic vote. Particularly since Kerry is Catholic.

10. Ask yourself one key question, Chavez:
Would you be seen in public in a hat only Horatio Hornblower could love? ;-)

15. the other thread disappeared
so i'll repost my comments here:

I heard about Bu$hler speaking to the K of C on NPR this morning. My stomach literally dropped when I heard Bush introduced as having "restored morality" to our country, and the place erupted into cheers. What planet do these people live on where uneccessary murder and lying about absolutely everything is considered moral as long as you're against choice and gays?

I say find a more all-encompassing org. to give your time, energy and money to. The Knights of Columbus sound like they're to the right of the Baptists. If many of their members take a stand against what they are promoting with their pro-Bu$h rhetoric, they will hopefully take another look at what they're espousing.
