Why Do Rep. think women should be seen but not heard???
I heard someone say.....Teresa Kerry needs a muzzle????
Appauling. Not every woman wants to be a housemouse cookie baker.
I say......theres more to standing by your man than just plain
standing.

1. I've been dealing with this issue...
... on my blog this week.

And I've had several readers ask why I'm so upset about this issue.

Duh.

Check out my posts and let me know if I'm off base:

2. Bob Dole used the muzzle word
Dole made ads for Viagra. He ran against Clinton for president in 1996. Before that Dole was a senator from Kansas. His wife Elizabeth was handpicked by Rove to run for senator from North Carolina in 2002. With the help of Walmart she was elected.

I think Bob Dole just won us Dems more votes with that reference to muzzle.

13. Martha Mitchell....his comparison is a big mistake.....she knew
what was going on but no one believed her; the media bought the republican spin that she was nuts

Her husband was the atty gen under Nixon and was involved with the people at the Committee to Re-Elect the President (known to all as CREEP). She kept saying nasty stuff was going on, but no one wanted to listen.

All this and much more became Watergate. I think Pat was working in the WH then.

3. Easy
Eve is the source of original sin. Adam made a huge mistake taking the fruit from that evil temptress.

7. I suppose jealousy is the most obvious answer...
Eve tempted Adam - yeah right. Adam was jealous of Eve having the nerve to question and he insisted on a bite of the Apple. If I am not mistaken, Adam is the one that was warned it was forbidden fruit.

Mary Magdeline was a prostitute, think not. She was a well to do single woman that was a financer and patron to Jesus and his disciples. Some who have studied the live of Jesus historically have opined that Peter was jealous of Mary Magdeline's relationship with Jesus, thus women are given the subservient role.

And do not believe them when they say the bible requires women be subservient to men. That is one line taken out of context. The entire chapter advises that all we must be subservient to each other, man to woman, woman to man, husband to wife and wife to husband.

Jealousy -envy

8. I think it has more to do with
silencing women who don't agree with them than a general silencing of women. The Repubs have Coulter, Schafly, Thatcher, etc, stumping for them, and I see no attempts to muzzle these women.

One could say the same thing regarding the people here on DU who shout "Shut up, bitch" to Coulter. Are they wanting to silence all women or just those who oppose Democratic beliefs?

Politics can be nasty.

9. Pat Buchanan's wife
I have always wondered about Pat's wife. During his campaigning she always stood a few steps behind him but she never spoke. Does anyone know if they have children???? Pat always seems to analyze and speak on women and children's issues yet his own wife seems to be a shadow with out voice????? Do you think she is muzzled????

15. To avoid dealing with the valid concerns of pro-choice women.
To marginalize us on just about everything. Personal attacks are easy. Dialog and discourse are not.

18. Read your bible very carefully and you will see it was the Levites
Edited on Wed Aug-04-04 11:52 AM by opihimoimoi
who controlled the Hebrew Tribes and instituted the Man is boss thing and the subservient wife thing. The old systems had a matri driven society, where women could have businesses, could divorce, pretty much like women today in America, freedom from the Men driven society of the bible....
Women from the older tribes had parity with men and the Levite dispised that, called them Heathens and Pagans, initiated genocide(Put all to the sword), and pretty much succeeded in creating a Society that took very good care of the Levites(themselves). They were good at conning people and it worked...till today the Levites get free food.shelter.education.freedom from Military service, etc.

Humans are such fools.....
