Last night on cnn
two politicians - one republican and one democrat attempting to define their version of "values". Both political parties are touting values quite a bit.

The republican talking about not wanting to DILUTE the sanctity of marriage by allowing gay marriages, the right to life, etc

The democrat saying it is very simple - mostly a sense of what is fair for everyone, talks about jobs, middle class wealth, health benefits, education and not just a privilaged few.

Needless to say, the dem (and I am sorry I cannot remember the names of either politician) looked far and above more on message, positive, upbeat and made far more sense to me. To me, the dem found the most common ground with Americans, while the repub came off as disconnected, ranting about diluting sanctity of marriage......and the need to change the constitution for that reason.

Positive message versus negative message.......I got such a kick out of the repub trying to bait the dem into a debate about marriage, and the dem just brushed it away and came right back on target, a sense of fairness for all, on target about middle class well being, health care, education.

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES.......HOW ABOUT ALL OF YOU?

1. Loved the bit on Daily Show about the Dem message on major issues
and the GOP left with 'no taxes, less gay' as their message.

Debates should be amusing. But I'm not counting on them happening. Something tells me, presidential duties might just keep the diabolic duo from actually going face to face with Kerry/Edwards, although bush* and Cheney were really looking forward to it...

2. I am looking foward to the debates (if they happen)
but I was looking foward to Gore schooling Bush. And even though Gore spanked Bush in all of thier debates the media spun it into Al's "terrible" sighs and body language and made Bush look like he won.

I have no doubt Kerry will bury Bush (because you can't lose when the truth is on your side) but who knows how the networks will spin it.

4. Kerry was a successful prosecutor and knows how to make a case.
I don't think we'll see many mistakes from him during the debates.

3. But talking about "values" is so much less awkward than
talking about Iraq or our cratered out health care system
or anything else that is not 100% bullshit.

The repug was Nevada or Arizona
