My Mission: Sway my repub cousin in Mizeruh! Ideas?
I have cousin in MO. He's a maintenance worker for the state. My mother tells me he's pretty conservative but moveable. My biggest challenge is his Freeper older brother: Baptist, servers in the military, etc...

I'm making it my mission to get him to vote for Kerry, and I'll turn to GD for ideas/advice aloing the way.

I think MO is still in play so I think it's worthwhile. Heck, it's intrinsically worthwile to save my cousin from evil.

Any ideas to start out?

Thanks.

2. Start Talking Conservative Values
Bush is not a conservative .

Also Matcom had success with
his dad . You may want to research
some of those threads.

My best wishes

4. Some fundies turn away from GOP and the Left Behind mentality
when they realize the longtime connection to RevMoon and the Moonies. Hard for Tim LaHaye to explain his over 20 year alliance with and funding from Moon.

6. Find out his core issue, it's best if you find out without tipping him off
that you are trying to find out. Then gather facts that support why his core issue demands he vote for Kerry.

Disclaimer: It may be that his core issue is not compatible, in this case just sour his ass on bush* to the point he doesn't want to vote for him and call it a victory

9. I have heard of several Rep guys in my extended circle
who are planning to vote Dem this time, who voted for * last time. They are not pleased about the war, or the economy.

10. Understand what he thinks is valuable.
For example, if someone is against abortion because it takes an innocent life for someone else's "reasons", then . . .

War takes innocent lives for someone else's reasons.

So War is abortion.

Ergo we are lead by a hypocrit.

13. I definitely want to ease into it
... see where he's at first. The guy apparently almost joined the union for chrisakes--he must have some sympathies for demo ideas.

I'm not going to hit him over the head with anything. I agree with the approach of finding out what he values and working from there.
