The elite
Bush adminstration people are bitching about the "cultural elite" supporting John Kerry.

"Most people don't look at these big-name entertainers as representing mainstream values," said Steve Schmidt, deputy communications director for Bush's campaign. "I think it could backfire for John Kerry, who is going around the country saying he represents conservative values."

But the news that prompted Stevie to denounce Kerryites for lacking MSV is the news the the following artists are joining Kerry & Edwards on the campaign trail:

Bruce Springsteen (first time in his career that he's openly joined the fray), the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., the Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and John Mellencamp. With the possible exception of Pearl Jam, these aren't your typical hotel room trashers. These are blue collar, mainstream rockers and quasirockers. Soul of America? Hell yes

1. Cultural elite?
I dunno, these groups look pretty mainstream to me. The quotes from the participants made them sound reasonable and moderate, as well. GOP should be worried, with this kind of support for the dems, we could turn out some voters!
