RICE a Top Contender for KERRY's National Security Advisor

No matter who wins the presidential election in November, the next White House national security adviser probably will be a telegenic African-American woman with ties to Stanford University whose last name is Rice.

That’s because Sen. John Kerry’s new senior adviser on national security is Susan Rice, a member of the National Security Council and assistant secretary of state for African affairs in the Clinton administration who is on leave from the Brookings Institution, where she is a senior fellow in foreign policy studies.

Rice, a 1986 Stanford graduate and Rhodes scholar with a doctorate from Oxford University, was front and center at the Democratic convention in Boston.

Susan Rice made it clear in an interview with the Stanford alumni magazine in 2000 that she doesn’t suffer fools gladly. “I guess you can say I’m plain-spoken,” she said. “I can be diplomatic when I have to be. But I don’t have a lot of patience for B.S.” Or for “horses---!” which is how she reacted to criticism of the African policy she promoted in the Clinton administration.

She apparently came under criticism as Ass't Sec. of State for African Affairs....some of it is from the LaRouche people....but some from other sources as well....

She had virtually no experience before taking that job, by the way....

She was a provost (in charge of room scheduling) at Stanford.

She is a U of Denver grad (undergrad and doctorate).

I caught the end of some debate, she is quite articulate and atractive. I heard them say Rice and looked up and was very surprised!
