Where's my duct tape!
I think I used it 2 years ago for something useful and now the morning shows are telling us to get ready again for any catastrophe...any ole one will do. As much as we all tend to make fun of the "terra" alerts, let me point out a few things from my own personal experience:

My offices were in the Boston Stock Exchange Building...often mentioned as a target.

I commuted to work on the "T", also often mentioned as a target.

If you are fed this stuff, day after day, after day, it begins to wear on you. When you are sitting on the "T" in a tunnel looking over everyone else around you...when you walk into you place of business and it's barricaded...it begins to wear on you.

They are wearing us all down, simple as that. Diabolical!

1. Raven,
I thought about that today when I saw some video of the cops in DC. I wondered how long before people really start freaking about living in those conditions. Here in good ole mid America this is almost like fantasy. I see it but somehow do not believe it. It reminds me of getting off the plane in Honduras and pulled off the busses there to be searched every 10 minutes by teens with BIG guns. It was unnerving and so must this be. I remembered being really glad to board the plane home.

5. It is hard to explain because it's in your mind...
everyone deals with it differently. I can't imagine being a resident of DC and having street after street being closed off.

With any luck you'll get hit by a bus first and not have to worry about it.

Seriously, I cant live like that or waste the time and energy. I'm not going to worry about things like that every minute. Paranoia is harmful to your health.

4. I'm not looking for advice on
how to calm my nerves...I am out of that environment now, but I think it can have a very subtle, wearing effect on people who have to face it everyday. It's a tactic and I think it might work on alot of folks.

7. First of all...
... congratulations on the proper spelling of "duct tape". :)

Actually, being a general jack-of-all-trades and handyman, I find duct tape to be an invaluable commodity. You can do all kinds of stuff with it. If you are a homeowner, you really cannot be without the stuff. Someone should put up a web site with all the uses of duct tape. Oh, they did! Here it is... http://www.exploremaine.com/~joeho/tape.htm
