I don't watch that station but I know some of you do. I heard on KPFT today that they are fixated on that story and want to turn it into some sort of scandal. Why? Do they think Clinton is involved?

5. I think they promote that story for a couple of reasons:
1. Discrediting the UN can help legitimize Bush's moronic idea to go to war without UN support.

2. Cheney did business illegally with Iraq in the 90's, and this is a kind of "they do it, too" thing.

6. Yeah, it's a UN thing.
Since the current incarnation of the Republican party is anti-globalization, anti-multilateralism, anti-anybody-but-the-U-S-fricking-A, there's a huge push by their media machine to discredit the UN at all times. The dialogue goes something like:

Lefty: "We need multinational support to help us in Iraq!"
Hannity: "Ha! The UN is nothing but a bunch of corrupt pigs!"
Lefty: "That has nothing to do with needing their help."
Hannity: "Oil for Food."
Lefty: "We're talking about the war in Iraq.."
Hannity: "OIL FOR FOOD"
