Scott McClellan declares criticism of terra alerts "irresponsible"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5591204/

White House press secretary Scott McClellan declined to describe in detail what he called “another new stream of intelligence,” saying it might endanger continuing intelligence operations. He criticized as an “irresponsible suggestion” any criticism that the administration had issued a terrorism warning for political purposes.

“When you connect all these streams of intelligence, it paints an alarming picture,” McClellan told reporters aboard Air Force One during a campaign flight to Iowa.

Ridge and other senior administration officials spent a second day Wednesday defending the warnings, which came on the heels of the Democratic National Convention and drew attention from the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. “I categorically state that the none of the terror threats are politically motivated,” Ridge said.

In New York, Treasury Secretary John Snow said suggestions that terrorism alerts were manipulated were “pure, unadulterated nonsense.” Snow toured the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and praised traders for their resilience in the face of such warnings.

1. Tom Ridge
'We do not play politics at the Department of Homeland Security'
'...are a direct result of President Bush's leadership.'
I don't remember the exact Tom Ridge quotes but this should be alarming to all Americans. Wake up!

2. deny it all you want ya little shit, you guys have stepped over the line
They did it, and they know damn well they did it, and it's so fucking transparent they can't cover it up this time. Their only hope is that it gets swallowed by the memory hole.

I hope they keep right on denying it for the next three months right up to when they lose the election.

4. But it was okay for the Republicans
to scream "wag the dog" with Clinton. This administration has no credibility and deserves as much scrutiny as anyone is willing to give.

10. Some bloggers are pointing out that the dept of Homeland security was
used in the Texas redistricting mess so it is not true that the office has never been used for political reasons. I am vague about how they were used, maybe to search for the Democrats who left Texas?
