The difference between us.

I've noticed something, and posting on another thread led me too the following:

Repugs never use facts, at least facts that aren't distorted. They use slogans and innuendo to make their point.

Example:

I keep hearing that * is going to keep america safe: How? What's the plan? Can I get anything as far as 'proof' that he's going to make us safer? Why isn't he in Washington 24 hours a day, learning something, doing something? Doing anything!

John Kerry - going to increase funding for first responders. Conv. Speech
- going to increase the military by 40,000 - in places other than Iraq. Conv. Speech
- won't raise terror alerts unless there is 'credible' information. Remember when Clinton said "Be afraid they're going to attack LAX? It's because he didn't - he simply worked with law enforcement and foiled the attempt.

This is the difference folks. We use facts. They use labels, slogans and unsubstantiated sound bites.

2. Smoke and Mirrors

I believe that it's a way to divert attention away from the argument. I firmly believe that if republicans can't get you engaged with their side of the issue with slogans and labels, they resort to bullying tactics. What scares me is that they convince themselves that if they shout it louder it will improve the odds that someone might believe and subscribe to it. As I write this reply tonight, I am taking time out to pat myself on the back after twelve years of marriage I have managed to get my husband to register to vote (Democrat of course). And my eleven year old son is well on his way. I'm so happy to see such a united front for a change and I am so proud to call myself a lifetime democrat.
