11. I think "bitter" is the most descriptive word for them
Bitter... they are bitter about everything.

They are bitter that America is left leaning and not at all interested in their outlook on life.

They are bitter that America is fighting them tooth and nail even though they have the triple crown of the House, Senate and WH.

They are bitter as a by-product of their own poison. The toxic logic that spews out of their echo chamber poisons them as much as it poisons Joe Sixpack.

They are bitter that all of their successes are only successful on the surface. They know how little of a grip on governmental power they have. They know how fast it can come undone, and they know that when push comes to shove, America hates them.

They are bitter because they think they have been under the yoke of liberalism for decades now and now that they are "in charge" nothing is changing much. Well at least not enough change for their liking.

And finally, they are bitter because they think that they are right and we are wrong, yet we won't go along with the game plan. Its as if the GOP supporters are saying: "look, you silly fool, just come along with us because we are 'right'" To which we respond "shove it" and they are baffled by that response. The bafflement manifests itself, over time, as bitterness.

Good choice of the word sui generis!

12. They screamed at my eight year old daughter
The rally we went to had some bush freeper/reject types at the parking lot entryway and we had to drive by them.

My eight year old was in the back seat and she had a Kerry flag.
She didn't realize they were for bush and she was excited waving her little Kerry flag out the window, smiling at them...no less.

They yelled rude remarks at her and one asshole screamed "How about a waffle" through a bullhorn right in her face as we went by.

How do you explain to an eight year old that 30% of the populace are a waste of oxygen?

21. well to those particular kinds of protestors
nothing is off limits. However if you had taken a bullhorn to one of their children they would have probably turned the car around and run over you, twice.

I just don't get what makes them turn out that way? I hope it's not catching.

28. They would definitely sue and scream child abuse
When push comes to shove those people always scream to "an authority"
(after they have picked the fight)

They are pathetic!

3. Maybe people realize by now
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 09:52 AM by Wright Patman
that the first GOP president, Lincoln, probably did us no favors by suspending the Constitution and forcing the wingnut states (which ironically were 'yellow dawg' Democrat back then) back into the Union.

The Confederacy would now be a Third World backwater akin to Mexico and would be receiving foreign aid from Washington, D.C., in exchange for basing rights.

And the U.S. would not have the cannon fodder from the South with which to pursue reckless imperial adventures abroad.

If only that vile Lincoln had let you all go.

That picture was taken in Iowa.

17. This country is way too large
That is the only reason there is a pretension that it is a "superpower." And the rest of the world cowers in fear as to what this out-of-control beast will do next. And, yes, I knew where the photo was taken before I posted. The "Confederate" mentality knows no state boundaries.

BTW, I think the state in which I live would have eventually broken off from the Confederacy because it was only the eastern part of the state, where I live and which is without a doubt the most backward region culturally and intellectually, which had slaves to begin with.

The original German settlers brought in by Stephen F. Austin who lived in the Brazos and Colorado River valleys on up into the Hill Country voted to stay in the Union and were opposed in principle to slavery as an institution, as all should have always been. But now we have seen the return of a quasi-slavery with the millions of illegal aliens who live in the shadows of our society. It is worse in a way. They have to pay for their own food and shelter.

4. They Live - We Sleep
When I put on those glasses I see what she really looks like! The aliens in John Carpenter's "They Live"

An economic crisis brings unemployed Nada (Roddy Piper) to L.A. in search of work. What he finds instead is that the ruling elite of the world are aliens in disguise, their aim being to keep humans in a state of mindless consumerism. His discovery comes when he dons a pair of special sunglasses made by a resistance group and sees for the first time reality unadorned. Billboards, store signs, magazine covers--all bear subliminal messages to OBEY, to CONSUME, to have NO INDEPENDENT THOUGHT. Money itself says THIS IS YOUR GOD. But worst of all, with these glasses you see which of us are really hideous, bug-eyed aliens.

15. Leading lives of noisy desperation.
I would think that about sums up the normal modern state of the diehard Conservative.

You have to talk crazier and crazier and smile fatuously about nothing and pretend the lowest denominator IQ is the Seat of Wisdom and not the Horse's A**. The press has gone along with collective lowering of the nation's IQ to reach a level of acceptance with W. Why can't you truth sayers just leave him alone? Praise him, praise him, alleluia.

Chortle.

16. Yesterday, in the grocery store . . .
...a woman coming toward me in the isle was glaring at me. I mean a glare with pure hatred. I couldn't believe it was directed at me & turned to look behind me. No, it was just the two of us in that isle. Since I hadn't encountered her in other isles & I hadn't done anything stupid (block the isle) I thought, 'What the hell is her problem? Bad day?" We passed in a few other isles & same thing. She would look up at me & GLARE.

It wasn't until I was in the checkout line that I glanced down & out of the corner of my eye saw my Kerry/Edwards lapel pin. I wear it everyday & forget I have it on. That is the only explanation I can think of for her behavior.

They are a hateful, fearful bunch.

32. Wind them up (within the limits of personal safety)
Wind them up, especially in public places. Anyone who glares at you, smile at them and maybe even say, "Vote Kerry". If they throw a temper tantrum and get ejected from the store, so much the better.

Hate is a toxic addiction. Make them hit bottom so they can get cured.

23. They are scared silly.
This country is getting ready to take a turn left--a HARD turn left! Some people are scared they won't be able to handle it. They should just leave now--because they are not going to be welcome in OUR country very soon. Their so-called values are repugnant to those of us on the left--and we will work to destroy them.

27. Notice how she's pointing at herself...
That's how it is with 'cons. It's all about them. What do you want to bet her little tirade is full of "I"s and "me"s and "mine"s. Chances are she was very noisily defending her measly 50 dollar tax cut when this pic was snapped. Very little else gets 'cons as exercised as that.
