The White House belongs to Bush?

I just thought of something while at the White House website. Does the White House belong to the people or to the President? There is nothing on the site about John Kerry, but yet he is running for president. I do understand the semantics of things there, but it was just something that crossed my mind. If the people pay for the website, why isn't it about what is going on instead of a big commercial for shrub?
Just a thought.

1. it`s our house

we own the big white house in washington dc. yes it`s one of the perks we give them-they can use the house anyway-within reason-they want. that`s part of the deal..but we do get to fire them after 4 yrs and they can`t stay after 8..not really a bad deal for everyone

2. whitehouse.gov is the site of the office of the president,

and since Bush, bu hook or by crook currently occupies that office, it's not unreasonable that Kerry not be on there.
