1. I can't see him as an especially competant or qualified general.
How hard was it to oversee this military fait accompli ? - given the overwhelming force the US was able to project in its invasion of Iraq. Did we even need tactics ?
Hearing him defend Rumsfeld and justify the invasion based on false claims of WMDs was enough to make me dismiss him entirely. Give me Gen Joe Stillwell, or Norman Schwarzkopf any day.
I heard him on Terry Gross's Fresh Air yesterday. He was good at covering his ass and posturing, but I head nothing that indicated independant thinking or critical analyisis. It felt like he was trying to have it both ways. He supports Bush and the invasion but had some quasi critical comments about Feith.
4. Carmen was next - after General Bullmoose ended.
Teri asked him the right answers...but this chain of command, do it by the numbers dimwit was squeaking from a prepared script. I wonder what he REALLY thinks. He was a suck up. A career suckup. The kind of commanding officer who is OK with you as long as you get with the program and stay there.
He knew, along with all the other generals that this would turn into Vietnam, so he bailed his silly ass out, wrote and book and is now whining about how they didn't finish "his job" right.
