Bush slip up and the Dean scream and the media agenda
Personally, I hate the climate in which things like the Dean Scream is hyped up and used to destroy the image of candidates. And, in all honesty, I don't like the idea of making anything of Bush's slip of the tongue today.

But this will be a litums test of the media, and how hypocritical they are.

It will be interesting to see whether the media does anything with Bush's slip up today. "Our enemies are constantly thinking up ways to destroy our country, and so are we."

Imagine the spin and echo chamber that would happen if Kerry had screwed up in the same way in a speech.

If Bush were a Democrat, this would be played over and over again,
like Howard Dean's scream. The pundits would analyze whether this was a symptom of some deeper mental imbalance or a Freudian slip -- like they used Dean's scream and his twisted his statements during the campaign to transform Dean into "Crazy Howard."

And they would make a joke out of it, to marginalize him in the public mind and give the GOP fodder for talking points -- like the media did to Dean.

TBut because it is Bush, the media will probably just gloss this over as "just a meaningless slip of the tongue." Or, if forced to acknowledge it -- as an example of Bush's charming humanity.

I hope I'm wrong. But if they give Bush a pass after smearing Dean it will be just one more piece of evidence of their hypocricy and craven cowardice.

3. "That's Just Him"
The Ronald Reagan White House got away with it for 8 years.

The media are not going to make anything out of it unless the internet uses its echo chamber powers.

Let The Noise Begin!!! Keep The Noise Going.

Well, until we are able to change this, we have to deal with it
Democrats simply have to be more careful with the media than Republicans. The way to fix this will be to get more independent voices in television and newspapers, and that means controlling the FCC and other regulatory bodies and staffing them with symapthetic people. So we need to get sympathetic people in office rather than just attempt to change things by not liking them. That's my view, anyway.

4. Part of it is that Democrats
don't get in front of the cameras in interviews and bring things up. Democrats are still reluctant to come out and call Bush* a liar. We need some elected officials to get on tv and start bringing things to light and make the Repukes defensive. That's waht they do and it forces the issue to be discussed. Not defending the media but sometimes you got to make the news yourself.

8. The "media" conveeeeniently left out Dean's Supporters'
background noise{which would have drowned out Dean) when they played "Dean's Scream" about a zillion times. In other words..they tampered with it.

They won't play bush's big fucking freudian slip because they want their corporate bastard masters to win this thing without any questions.

11. Ok, just what the hell did he mean?
Usually I can read through his crap and get at what I think he meant - here I can't find it.

:tinfoilhat: ok, he is offering coded messages to his Neo-Nazi handlers (thread earlier in day). He is saying the plan is on track, while everyone else but his handlers are thinking that is just GWB being GWB. AND, earlier today, as mentioned in my Chris Matthews thread, the stage was set by Tweety today to give Bush* a bump in the polls if another terrorist attack happens in the US. Think about it. :tinfoilhat: Why, no, I haven't taken my medication yet this morning, why?

16. "We Will Double Our Special Forces...
to conduct terrorist -- to conduct anti-terrorist operations."

He said it, I heard it. Lots of others did too. But that was a little bit more simple slip than what Bush did. What he said wasn't a slip, it was written in his remarks, and put in the press release. They MEANT to say that (I'm sure a speechwriter is getting fired as I type this).
