I'm surprised -- given that the rest of the candidates are parading their families in front of the cameras -- at the invisibility of Mary Cheney, Dick's openly gay daughter, which hasn't even raised an eyebrow among the media.

Considering that Mary is raking in a cool 100 grand for her job with the Bush/Cheney re-selection campaign, for which anti-gay hatred has become a banner for Bush's faithful, you'd think we'd see a front-and-center Mary Cheney. Especially since she's the one candidate's child who is actually collecting A SALARY, and a hefty one at that, for working on the Presidential campaign!

Gee Mary, what was it you said about the GOP inviting all to the "big tent" and touting its inclusiveness? What do you say to your long-time partner every night when you reassure her you're doing everything in your power to insure that she will forever, by the power of the Constitution, be a second-class citizen in the US of A?

C'mon, Mary! Come out, come out, wherever you are! Let's hear your pathetic, lame-ass excuses now. Let's see the GOP put you and your Log Cabin pals in a place of prominence at the GOP convention. Let me hear your own father stand before the fundies and the nation to defend your rights as a full citizen of this country.

Mary is an OUT, thirty-something lesbian who is being PAID 100,000 a year as part of the Bush re-selection campaign. She, unlike the other candidate kids, IS a hired hand who cultivated her reputation among the GLBT community by openly recruiting gays into the GOP.

So you are wrong on this one -- MARY IS A GOP HIRED HAND directly involved in the campaign, and a well paid one at that.

This is very interesting, glad I found this post because I am digging up all sorts of information on Mary Cheney. This article makes it seem that although she sat next to her mother at the convention, she remains a silent partner for the Repugs.

It does not mention her involvement, work or otherwise, in the campaign, which is the information I am seeking.

This is my favorite quote from the Log Cabin Republicans (gay Repugs), "Said Log Cabin Republicans member Frank Ricchiazzi, boasting how far his gay and lesbian conservative group has come since the ``vicious'' 1992 GOP convention in Houston: ``Eight years later, we have a Republican vice presidential nominee who has a gay daughter.''"
