5. I Have A Bronze Star Myself

Let me tell you something, you don't get one of them by asking for it. I didn't even know anyone had put me in for the one I got and guys who I served with who got Bronze and Silver Stars generally didn't know that they had been recommended either. As I remember the recommendation had to have been signed by two officers who had witnessed the event for which the medal was to be awarded.

Now, I'll grant you that Generals get medals for nothing, that Colonels have to at least be close enough to action to hear a shot fired, Captains and Majors pretty much have to be on the ground to earn their's. However for lieutenants and grunts (me), we had to get their ass shot at and shoot back as well as do some other shit that no sensible person would try as well to even get recommended, and if it wasn't witnessed by Officers who will willing to attest to what they saw it might as well never have happened.

I know what it took to get what John Kerry has, trust me, he had to earn it.

.. they would still be attacking him. Ask Max Clelland. I'm sick to my stomach today that people are actually buying the "Unfit" book, written by that O' Neill guy WHO NEVER SERVED WITH KERRY!!! I find it beyond depressing that the media and the book publishers NEVER took the time to find out what this "author"'s background and ties were... I can only hope that the veterans out there will rise up and kick Bush's slimy, evil, TROOP-HATING, ass out of office.. for this.
