Freepers attacking McCain's Vietnam service now
They are pissed that he stuck up for Kerry, and true to the right wing script they are passing around rumors and innuendo about McCain. All the while they defend a fucking chickenhawk! These people are so fuckin' sick!

"According to a few ex pow's he punked out about the same time as kerry.

3. I was just over there reading their comments on
McCain speaking out. Could they be any more pathetic? Seriously, though, we need to keep sending emails and calling McCains office thanking him.

11. Pathetic is an understatement. They are demented.
McCain spent 5 or 6 years in a bamboo prison in Vietnam. I suppose to them that means nothing. I believe in free speech--not hate speech. This election is the most vitriolic I have ever seen. If the media would get off it's collective ass and bring this up maybe, just maybe, we could stop some of this rancor.

"He punked out for the same reason he made sure his records remained sealed - he has things he deosn't want people to find out about."

And yet they don't mention AWOL-in Chief.

Yeah, THAT'S a surprise.

7. The most telling statement of all in that freeper thread...
is the one a little ways down, "McPain can't control himself, or be controlled, so he should just shut up."

Yup, I guess McCain should just be quiet and let the NeoCons give him his marching orders, like they do with Shrub.

That one quote is really the most frightening insight into Freep-think I've ever encountered. The assholes are totalitarians and don't even know it!

8. Can you really pick and choose which troops you support??
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 02:28 PM by GloriaSmith
Is this freeper patriotism? To only support soldiers, both past and present who vote republican? SICK!

I know there are are a lot of soldiers who vote Republican, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit on my ass and insult them on the internet or question their medals or patriotism just because my political beliefs are different.

How stupid do these people have to be to not see their own hypocrisy???

:grr:

9. It's amazing how they bend over backwards to defend Bush
I've never seen a group of people so willing to go to any lengths to support a man who was so clearly underqualified to be president of the USA.

What in the hell caused the party to choose Bush over McCain in the primaries anyway? Hell, by any standard of achievement McCain stood head and shoulders over Bush by any type of measurement.

It's not like GHW Bush was a president of such stature that his legacy needed to be protected or rebuilt and therefore the best person to do it was his son.

Anyway care to offer some insight as to how Bush got the nod in 2000?

That's easy. McCain wasn't willing to go along with the PNAC plan for the next four years. It's hardly a coincidence that after he beats Bush in one primary he drops out of the race. The GOP got scared of a guy who cares more about the American people than his own pocketbook.

16. The party bigwigs wanted someone they could control.
Think about how many strong governors the GOP had in office at that time. Bush should have been way down the list, yet he had the name, and he could be controlled, and that's what they wanted. So Bush had all the party bigwigs supporting him throughout the campaign, pulling the usual dirty tricks on McCain. It was a pitiful sight, indeed. And a sad thing for America, as the past four years have shown.

Nevermind just how wonderful the McCain-Gore debates would have been to watch.

You know, this guy's right. John McCain probably does have a skeleton or two in his closet. Who doesn't? But Bush has more skeletons in his closet than Saddam Hussein had in the ground.

15. Well, nobody ever said that they had any shame.
They'll support a draft-dodging, AWOLer named W, while bashing two true military heroes to no end.

It would be funny, if it weren't so sad.

Tell ya what...we'll trade you Zell Miller for McCain straight across right now, because we can work with a man with principles even if you can't.
