Republicans say the darndest things!
This is taken from a fund raising letter Sen. Jon Corzine and the DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee) sent:

Just take a look at what some of them are saying--and remember, these are only examples that made it to the news. Please help us expose the real rhetoric of right-wing Republicans:

"I favor the death penalty for abortionists and other people who take life." -- Tom Coburn (R), candidate for Senate in Oklahoma. He actually referred to the Oscar winning film about the Holocaust, Schindler's List, as 'pornographic' and wrote a book denouncing right-wing zealots such as Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott as being too moderate.

"The president bought us 14 months where every terrorist has been focused on killing Americans in Iraq." -- Congressman Richard Burr (R), candidate for Senate in North Carolina. Burr was referring to the war in Iraq as a diversion to terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. Apparently, the Congressman thinks it's okay to send our troops to Iraq to act as decoys.

"People should stop whining about jobs" so says arch-conservative Congressman Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican Senate candidate, in response to significant job loss in his state.

"Un-American" and "Cowardly" is how two of the most extreme Republican candidates in the country, Russ Darrow and Robert Lorge of Wisconsin, described Senator Russ Feingold's vote against the Patriot Act which John Ashcroft has warped to threaten our civil liberties. Darrow and Lorge are running in the primary to face Russ this fall. Their comments, disparaging the patriotism of one of the best public servants in the nation, are beyond extreme, they are deplorable.

"It's a murder, no different from a teen-ager's plan to murder her grandmother for the inheritance," Alan Keyes' view on choice. Keyes is the choice of the Illinois GOP to replace Jack Ryan on the ballot to face Barack Obama in this fall's U.S. Senate race.
