I feel great! Planned Parenthood rules.
I got an e-mail from Planned Parenthood asking for volunteers for the next few months to help register voters at clinics and in other locations, so I e-mailed back with some info and asked them to call me any time.

She left me a message last night, so I called back today. We just had the most delightful conversation.

This lady found out I was a deputy voter registrar in two counties, fully support their mission, am ready to roll up my sleeves, and am conducting a 1-woman education campaign for young women where choice is concerned (having a completely independent house party to show a movie and distribute information. With snacks, of course!).

I told her I wear Pro-Choice or Anti-Bush stuff pretty much wherever I go--she laughed.

She was so excited to hear from me!!! And just kept bringing up more stuff that they were working on.

"Would you be interested in this?"
"Suuure!"
"How about this?"
"Yep!"
"Oh this so great!"

Ever had anybody THAT excited to talk to you? It felt pretty good, let me tell you. :D

Don't want kids, and reprehensor and I have taken the "big step" to ensure that we don't. Fargo is our baby, and he's enough of a handful for us!

As much as pro-lifers picket it, the good it does far outweighs any abortions it provides.

They provide birth control to poor and college age women (so they don't HAVE to have abortions), they provide breast exams and other important health information, and they also provide STD testing.

If you can't see beyond that, you are an ass.

Oh-- and looking at your profile, I see you are a man. Big surprise.

12. when I had no health insurance
Planned Parenthood was the only place I could go for affordable healthcare. Of course, the picketers try to shame everyone entering the clinic, as if everyone is going there for abortions. I was like, HELLO? I'm just trying to get affordable birth control so I can PREVENT all of that.

14. Same for me.
My last year of school I was working full time and going to school full time.

I had FOUR MONTHS left of school, and finally had to quit my job so I could graduate. I went from an amazing healthcare plan to nothing. Planned Parenthood saved me.

18. Yes. When I was in college, I could get a pack of bc pills for
under $10!

Plus they gave away these awesome condoms called Primes by the handful. They were in fishbowls all around the clinic!

...ANYTHING being as diametrically opposed to DU's philosophy as Operation Rescue.

I don't blame him for avoiding responding to your question. If I were a supporter of that SICK, DISGUSTING group, I wouldn't admit it, either. But, then again, if I supported Op Rescue, I wouldn't be a DU kind of a person, comprende?

Stop the Sacrilege
A National Campaign ©
U can't B both Catholic and pro-choice
It’s as simple as that. And yet many Catholic legislators and elected officials are claiming to be Christian Catholics and voting to continue the killing of innocent unborn human life. When these politicians show up at Sunday Mass and receive Holy Communion, many people are mystified, some are angry, and some feel, “Hey, it’s O. K.”

Well, it’s not O. K. and it does a lot of harm. For 31 years we have been trying to get the pro-life message out: Abortion kills a baby and harms a mother. Women deserve better; babies deserve life. Now we have a presidential candidate, a Catholic, who tries to skirt the issue hiding behind those tattered, specious arguments: “I’m personally opposed but…” “America believes in separation of Church and state…” and “The Church can’t tell a legislator what to do…”

Murder is murder. The fifth commandment says, “Thou shall not murder.” If you are personally opposed to murder, you can’t be politically for it. Not opposing the murder of the innocent has nothing to do with the separation of Church and state. It has to do with the separation of the soul from God, and it’s God, specifically, who is telling all of us we can’t either condone or comit murder.

Some bishops and Cardinals have let us down; others are standing up courageously to teach and to lead. It is time for Catholics to button down to business and go public with the truth. We need to start the conversation in our social gatherings and in the marketplace and we have the way to do just that! Incidentally, this isn’t just a “Catholic” issue. Any Christian or Jewish person who honors their faith can’t be either fully Christian or Jewish and remain pro-choice. We are wonderfully and fearfully made, in His image.

You can join the campaign by buying and wearing one of our Stop the Sacrilege buttons.

Using that argument, you can't support Bush since he supports the death penalty. Thou shalt not kill...unless you're GW.

16. Good for you! And them!
Everyday in our Dem HQ we get folks in who want to volunteer, give money, anything to get the Thugs out. The one theing they always want to do is talk! They often have learned a lot of stuff on the internet and are quite certain nobody else around here knows any of it. :-) Of course we always listen as time allows and agree, we often exchange favorite sources etc. They are so excited to find others who feel as they do.

I guess you could we are fortunate enough to experience your happy story every day. It's great to make people feel welcome and among friends.

Keep up the great work for the noble cause! Thank you for getting involved!

:toast: Cheers--

Julie

24. "If These Walls Could Talk."
The first time I saw it I was a bawling wreck at the end. And I'm going to show some graphic photos of women who died trying to have abortions to counteract the crap that people are shown from the other side.

I want to shock these women out of their inaction.

Kind of hard to find 1992 film about a potential future where abortion is illegal, and the GOP "Human Life Amendment" is taken to it's logical conclusion- protective custody for women suspected of wanting to harm their fetuses, women using IUDs charged with carrying a "concealed murder weapon", that sort of thing. Spooky but certainly worth checking out.
